A-wings and Math, are we having fun yet?

By piznit, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Build 1: 4 Green A-Wings with Crackshot, PtL, AT, refits

Build 2: 5 Greens A-Wings with Crackshot, AT, refits

From a MathWing perspective, is it more beneficial to have 1 less A-wing with +3 squad action economy, allowing you to add more TLs/focuses whatnot, or just have the 5th A-Wing and its 2 extra red dice, but 3 less actions per turn (but also 1 more crackshot)?

Anyone wanna try to figure that bad boy out, or offer opinions? I've flown it several times both ways, but since its against constantly varying opponents its hard to decide!

Just a question, but where are your Refits to get more points? You aren't using ordnance anyway.

Yes, they have refits, just forgot to include it. You wouldn't be able to get 100 points without those on :)

You've got 8 spare points with your first list. That lets you replace one of the Greens Squads with either Jake or Tycho.

You're also going to have to weigh taking Crackshot to taking Wired on the PTL A-Wings for the same price. Crackshot helps get some damage through once a game but Wired boosts your action economy and durability just about every round.

How about this:

Green Squad with A-Wing Test Pilot, Refit, Autothrusters, Push the Limit, and Outmaneuver x 4

The Outmaneuver really synergies with your wanting to arc dodge and you don't have to use an action to use it.
