Fallout 4: Who's Getting Excited?

By Sergovan, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I bought Wasteland 2 last year, and am finally going through it right now. It's a bunch of fun, but it feels more like Fallout Tactics than Fallout 1 and 2. Much less role-playing sorts of decisions than either the older or newer Fallout games.

Sure. But if you're looking for post-apocalyptic turn-based third-person RPGs, and you're like me and you've already memorized most of the conversation trees in Fallout 2...

I play Fallout Shelter some but I've been playing the original Fallout game more since buying it, 2, and Tactics from GOG.com a few days ago.

I'm hoping to have the money to buy a PS4 before Fallout 4 is out and preorder 4 but some issues with my grandmother's will are slowing down my getting my inheritance.

New Vegas was the first PS3 I owned though it wasn't what I wanted first. I originally planned to get Mass Effect 2 first because ME 3 was coming soon and I wanted to beat 2 first. I was going to get Fallout 3 or New Vegas when hitting a buy two get one free sale at Gamestop the upcoming weekend but the store I bought the PS3 at was sold out of Mass Effect 2 and had New Vegas so I got it instead.

Pass. I want more like the original Fallouts. I don't like the shooter versions.

It's definitely not the same experience as Fallout 1-2, but I do like Bethesda's Fallout games.

Are you familiar with Wasteland 2 ?

I have it in my Steam queue right now. But waiting for it to go on sale. My money has been going to some other game with little plastic spaceships right now.

Did you ever go back for Mass Effect? Some of my fondest video game memories are from that series

My wife has beaten Mass Effect 1 to 3 multiple times on hardcore. She would never spare Ashley over Caiden. She also has beaten New Vegas multiple times, although not on hardcore I think...

We teamed up for New Vegas. I bought the collector's edition player's guide and I would help her complete quests by directing her in the right direction when she got turned around and where to go for good equipment.

Best Vegas moment - lvl 7 and crossing from Goodsprings to New Vegas South entrance (the area where you get warned NOT to go), killing 3 Deathclaws to do it. I was scared outta my pants but I found a way to do it in one try! I Stealhboy'd half way there then ran for the train station and dived under the platform where the Deathclaws couldn't go.Took all my ammo as each shot only dropped 1 bar off of each Deathclaw. That was my most memorable video game moment.

This was a FO3 moment, but I got my hands on Lincoln's Repeater, and I said to myself, "yep, now is the time to take out that slaver town, and this is the tool."

Best moment ever, though was in Skyrim, when I had fought to the end of a dungeon fairly sneakily, usually with a good throat slashing from behind. I get to the big boss at the end, and she starts the monologue. Just as she's finishing her rant, and preparing to raise/summon her evil minions to kill me, I do the high level sneak dash/somersault forward. My character comes out of the roll right in front of the evil sorceress, and strikes with my dagger. I had crazy high levels of sneak, so it's doing horrendous damage. One strike was all it took and she drops. It went straight to killing blow animation. I caught the villain monologing.

The best thing about Fallout 3/NV AND Skyrim is depsite playing them all through several times over about four years or so Im STILL finding new unmarked locations to explore....

Sometimes I think i've seen everything, got every item, met every person then i'll find an unmarked 'raid shack' in some ruins :)

Yeah I grabbed it at the sale I had originally been planning to get Fallout 3 or New Vegas at then pre-ordered 3 and the Trilogy. Andromeda is also on my list of things to pre-order if I can afford a PS4 in time. 1 and 2 were pretty even in my eyes with 3 not being nearly as good as I hoped though I did like 3 letting any class use any weapon again. I hate how 2 limits your weapon selection. If I import my Assault Rifle expert Engineer from 1 I should be able to use an Assault Rifle from the beginning in 2 IMO.

Just the other night I discovered Arlington cemetery and a cake factory full of Chinese ghouls, you really get value for money with those games.

Currently I'm struggling I have so many guns I'm constantly near my weight limit but I refuse to drop my minigun!

Good tip is to do 'aiding the outcasts' as quickly as possible to get power armour training and decent kit quite early. 'strong back' helps too as a perk.

Yeah i love the cemetary and chinese enclave area. did you find the wierd shrine to lincoln in Arlington house basement?

Another chinese 'easter egg' is a random 'chinese distress signal' that spawns pretty much at a totally random place in the wasteland, if you move round until its loudest you can find a dead chinese commando.

There is also a 'drainage tunnel' with a chinese spy base in it , i think its near the deathclaw sanctuary but it might be near the flooded metro, one or the other.

I almost cried from laughter when I found the Holy Hand Grenades in NV.

Anyone heard anything about native support for ultra-wide resolutions? I don't believe in playing these games on only one monitor :P

Holy Hand Grenades? Where are they? :)

I found them in FO2 in a random encounter, never found them in NV.

Today's adventure saw me rescuing some mercenaries from the top of a hotel, many super mutants died this day from combat shotgun related head wounds.

The hospital/hotel quest is really cool

F:NV: Gotta take the Wild Wasteland trait, then go to Camp Searchlight. They're in...one of the buildings...I forget.

Without the trait, they're replaced with a Mini Nuke. The grenades temselves are just frag grenades with crosses painted on them that explode in a mini-nuke explosion
