Hound's Tooth Auxilliary Arc

By Swanny, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Flew against my first Hound last night and to my suprise, got into an "argument" about which way the auxilliary arc went, with most of the group saying it fired to the rear. The confusion seems to rise from a diagram in the accompanying rule book that "shadows" (they thought highlights) the 180 degree rear arc. In my very limited view of the rule book I couldn't actually see the word foreward or rear. The base of course is the reverse, and I used a Firespray base as an example to finally get agreement. In fact, it was only in the news article could I find "Its primary and auxiliary firing arcs span a full, forward-facing 180 degree arc".

One question though, I'm assuming since Auto Thrusters don't work with the Firespray's auxillary arc, that the same is true for the Hounds Tooth? Any one have a reference that confirms or disproves this?

Thanks,

Swanny.

An auxiliary arc is still considered to be a firing arc for primary weapons.

Autothrusters will not trigger from a primary weapon shot from an auxiliary arc, unless the shot is Range 3.

And they were incorrect, it fires forward. The Hound's Tooth can't fire behind it.

The firing arc is always the coloured part. I fail to see how they could assume it was 180° to the rear, unless they were trying to use the Firespray as a basis for their argument. It's pretty clearly coloured to the front, like EVERY other ship's firing arc.

Further evidence.

The Hound's Tooth is clearly said to have 2 auxiliary arcs. If the dotted lines indicated a rear arc, where is the second arc?

The special icon around the attack number on the pilot cards is clearly indicating arcs to the forward left and right. Not behind like the firespray's does.
