Is it likely that the Assault Gunboat or Tie Avenger will ever get a release? I do very much hope so, as I have been a *huge* fan of these craft since the Lucasarts X-Wing/Tie Fighter series of PC games from the 1990s. In my view, both are very attractive, highly convincing designs and worthy additions to the Imperial arsenal and Star Wars universe.
In particular, with the Scum faction now having its own X-wing clone in the shape of the new Kihraxz fighter, there's surely a good argument for the Empire to have its own, in the shape of the Assault Gunboat.
And while some may argue that the gap between Tie Interceptor and Tie Defender has now been filled, given the fixes that have recently been made to the underused Tie Advanced, surely there's still a way to squeeze in the Tie Avenger in a meaningful way that makes it an attractive new option - perhaps readers of this thread who are more experienced players than me might make some sensible proposals for it?
Please, please, please, FFG, look seriously into the option of producing both of these fantastic craft! There are surely thousands of middle-aged guys like me who fondly remember piloting (or destroying!) these beautiful ships, and would love to see them incorporated into the game!
