I finally played the first mission and campaign tonight. I have had an awful lot of Xwing stuff collected over a few years and never really played. I have a very time consuming job and a family which means I have never been able to play a game of this with anyone. Having a single player solo mode with this is just outstanding and has given me a gaming outlet. Now, once the kids are abed and I have a few hours at the weekend, I can actually enjoy these wonderful mechanics and models. Thank you so much for producing this. 'Knight' has now improved his Xwing and is edging toward some EPT. I did make some mistakes counting up XP and shorting myself but that's OK because I also forgot to bring on an elite pilot in a mission.

The trick is to get your family to play along with you After her usual 'meh what is this boring move ships across the table' attitude I could convince my fiancee to play along with this awesome Co-Op experience. We played it quite a bit with 2 other friends of mine who never really got into X-Wing but love this RPG-esque coop experience where you can improve your own ship. Not sure how old your kids are but maybe you can get them interested as well?
Incase all fails I'd still suggest you fly 2 squadmates as a team instead of 1 for your solo campaign, I think it is a bit more balanced than the 1 player variant. Hope you can get around to play some more missions and enjoy your collection.
Well, my wife would never play. My 11 year old likes to play on those odd occasions we have time. If his kids are young, then it might take some time.
I will say that X-wing is a game that you have a better chance of talking someone into the game than any other game, even those people that just don't play games. Star Wars fans are out there and will try something new. So, don't give up on the idea that maybe your neighbor could be convinced to come over and play for an hour some night.
Also, if you were interested in playing X-wing, I do know there is Vassal. It's a way to play X-wing online via a game interface. I tried it when it first came out and gave up for being cumbersome. It's been redone and is supposed to be amazing to play now. So, check out Vassal.
Is HotAC on Vassal?
Has anyone tried using the ARC in HotAC yet? I'm running through for a fourth time and I'm looking to try something new. First time through I did an X-Wing start to finish. Second was Y-Wing to HWK. Third (and ongoing) is an A-Wing (which is pretty 'meh'). Had plenty of B-Wings in the campaign each time even if I didn't fly them. Been avoiding large ships, but the ARC is small base and frankly one of my favorite ships (need a game that allows for the LAAT/i and life will be complete).
I really want to do the ARC-170, but GenCon was not an option for me. I'm going to ask that question Thursday night in my interview.
Just printed all my bits, book coming from Spinnprint this week. I now need to cut out all the obstacles. I printed stickers and will put them on some matboard and have a cutting party.

Someone made an ARC_170 ship sheet for Hotac, I havent had a time to print it out nad use it. Looks like a good upgrade ship for the standard exp cost of 5exp, and at normal PS. It sacrifices the turret on the Ywing for the rear arc and an extra hit, and crew. So should work fine as eithera supprt vessel like the hwk or a heavy fighter
I see it as a good ship in the campaign but not flat broken like the large ships tend to be.

I don't know about Vassal, but Tabletop Simulator is definitely an option. I just moved across the ocean and while my actual ships are on a ship, I've been playing HotAC solo (flying three ships) on there.

Trouble is my family will never play this with me at the moment. My wife won't touch anything like this with a barge pole just because its not her cup of tea. My son is 5 and cannot really reason it, nor can I completely trust him with the models. My daughter is late teens and not interested in the least. No suitable neighbours or friends. So a decent solo game is just such a brilliant idea
I will also take my levelled up Xwing back for another go at the same set of missions with a Ywing Thanks for the suggestion.

HotAC is definitely on Vassal!
There is actually an extension that you can download that will add all the HotAC components to the standard stuff in Vassal. You can download it the same place you get the x-wing vassal module.
Received my books today, thank you everyone that recomended spinnprint.com, awesome job and only $34 for 4 books. I will get to cutting this weekend and hopefully get a mission or two in.
Has anyone used a sealer of any kind on the objects to keep the stickers from peeling off?
Got my books in, based off of the recommendation from the earlier post to use SpinnPrint. They did an amazing job. I am so excited. I plan to print out the obstacles on my own, and that will be coming soon. Thanks for all the hard work in creating this and making it pleasing to look at as well!
Here are a few pictures of the book:
What options (and file) did you use to print those. I see other people saying the print version gives you an 8.5x5.5 bok, but I only see 8.5x11 for the spiral/coil bound on spinnprint (and id rather have that as opposed to stapled)
Just order a regular booklet, it is too thick for that and they will spiral it for the same price. Use the pdf titled print not screen.

This is he Ive been doing my solo campaign. Lot easier to load up a vassal module than get everything out for a 5 ship campaign. Models hit the table when i play it with friends

Cool, thanks
Looking at starting a Y-Wing, I wa think I g of starting with Flechette Torps, Targeting Astromech and EU. Looking at TLT, extra munitions and predator with future experience. Should I look at something else?
Bombs on Ys are great.

Flechette Torps aren't brilliant due to the way the AI deals with stress. Proton Torps + Guidance Chips works really well once you have Predator.
If you want Boost and Target Lock, have you considered R7-T1 as your Astromech?
I really want TLT, but hate spending most of my starting XP on one upgrade. I also thought TLT and Targeting Asto. Engine upgrade, Vectored Thrusters and Predator all seem like they are natural adds once I have the points.
I started with a Y-wing and went with 2 x Proton Torpedo and Guidance Chip for my first upgrades. I got enough points in the first mission to get a TLT after that. I've never had an issue with getting points from then on. I'm now at:
Warhead (Y-wing Pilot)
- 2 x Proton Torpedoes
- Extra Munitions
- Guidance Chip
- Predator
- TLT
- Targeting Astromech
- Nera Dantel's ability
- Hobbie's ability
- Shield Upgrade
So, I can do a red maneuver and get a free TL from Targeting Astromech. Hobbie's ability then automatically clears that stress. I can fire my Torpedoes 360 and use Predator to modify dice. I then get GC to change one and Proton Torps natively change one to a crit. Oh, and I can fire TLT's with Predator 360, as well.

Youll likely make back the xp you spent on the tlt in the first mission if you atart with it, going by the times Ive used it

Hrmm, am I doings omething wrong? I set all the options based on the earlier comment in the thread, set the job name and description, set First File to the campaign book, and hit order now. Comes up saying please wait for the file to upload, then after a short time goes to the cart saying there's nothing in it.

You have to upload it from a share site (similar to Dropbox) that you will put your info on the form. It took me calling them to figure it out, also had issue with their pay site now having the year of my CC.

Gotcha, thanks for the info
