That's it, my next bad guy can be an inquisitor duel wielding 5 bladed lightsabers.
The Micromachines might come in handy.
I think someone shared this when it was first announced. As silly as some of these examples are, this looks like a fun product. Definitely something I would love to play with even as an adult. Last time I was at Disney world, my wife and I made our own lightsabers after riding the Star Tours ride. It was really fun.
We just got back from Disney, and made like five of the things. Sadly, the versions they sell now are not as good as the versions they sold three years ago. My youngest son has one from back then, and it came with three different crystals which let you customize the sound. These new lightsabers don't have that feature.
Pffft! Who needs plastic Disneyswords? Make your own "real" LED lightsaber out of aircraft-grade aluminum with parts from this place!
And if you want to actually be able to smash them against each other, go to Saber Forge where you get a warranty even with dueling. Not cheap, but high grade.
Nahh, go with ultrasabers.com.
I laughed at the 3 bladed lightsaber, it reminded me of the sword and the sorcerer.

Smashiness is a functinon of blade thickness. If you want to gorilla duel, go with a blade that has 1/8" thick walls. Those hit like baseball bats.

Ultrasabers are shoddy on the electronics and somewhat shady (i.e. using other people's sound fonts in their blades w/o permission) in their practices. They make fine MHS-compatible parts, however, one of which I've used in one of my builds. Maybe they've cleaned up their act in the past couple of years, I dunno...
I got my saber from TCSS. It is awesome because you get to choose a saber that is unique to you (if you're into that kind of thing), but a bit harder because you have to assemble it yourself. I made some poor choices with parts, and while it works and is cool, it acts a bit wonky (swing sensor sometimes doesn't detect a swing, or spazzes out with a million swings when I'm not moving it).

Yeah, it took me about a half dozen tries in the settings file before I got all the parameters right. If you need settings for a Plecter Labs board, shoot a PM.
My problem mostly is that I assembled it in such a way that the sim card is not accessible without taking the entire saber apart. I should have gotten an internal chassis but instead I bought a speaker mount with battery holder and taped my sound card to it.
Clearly not the way to go! But I'm waiting for the go-ahead from The Boss to order my daughter's saber and then I'll get the additional parts I need to rebuild mine correctly!
Getting a "real" lightsaber is on my to-do list, so it looks like I know where to come for some sound advice once I'm ready.
Related, if anyone is interested in "actual" saber fighting, the guys at Terra Prime are a good place to start. It's (mostly) Chinese sword fighting restyled by a couple masters into something that's pretty amazing.
I'm not usually one for dual wield weapons but I've been thinking of trying to remember what I learned about quarterstaff practice and buying a decent dual saber staff. I think it would be a lot of fun to do some demonstrations and it is a really good workout, plus actually being able to duel with them now with the quality materials available would realize a lot of childhood dreams. Thanks for the links Lorne (both construction and practice).
As an old reenactor, I can get lost in videos like that...

I think we found our dicemaker. ![]()

Okay, now I know where I need to go to actually study real saber combat. Cool.
So this is Blizz from SWTOR ![]()

I have the good fortune of being a member at the gym where Darth Nonymous teaches his saber classes. My daughter is at lightsaber camp with him right now! It's because of his class that I got my lightsaber. It is much fun!
