dont know about dropping cluster mines in-front of my own ship yet..... its something that ill have to test out other bombs no problem but wit a few asteroids on the battlefield I can see you getting blocked in quick (after a barrel roll)
id switch pred and VI round vaders already a big target so he needs to churn out as much damage as possible, turr loves being a nine and gives you more flexibility moving and shooting with him and vader.

The only time I would use Deathrain's special ability is when that mine you're deploying from the front will land on a target and detonate before you move.
With the free barrel roll and the Punisher's dial you should have no issues avoiding your own mines/bombs.

I have a hard time being okay with Deathrain only being able to use his ability twice the entire game. He'll run out of bombs fast. Drop VI from Vader, switch Phennir to VI from Pred, and you can squeeze in some Proximity Mines for Deathrain to play with.
If you do that, then maybe also consider switching your Cluster Mines for Conner Nets. Proximity Mines will do just fine for direct damage (if not quite the same "base base" killer as Clusters), but the Nets will give you some snazzy control.
