Ramming from a Space Station

By nekomatafuyu, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

If a ship collides with another ship it receives a damage card. Meanwhile, if a ship ends its maneuver on a space station it removes a damage card.

What happens if both happen? (So the reduction in speed causes the ship to end up on the space station):

- Receive the damage card from the collision, then remove it due to the space station.

- Receive the damage card from the collision after removing a damage card (if you have any other damage cards to remove).

- Both effects are simultaneous - the player moving the ship chooses the order.

- Both effects are simultaneous - the opponent chooses the order.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you recieve the Damage card from the Impact (Ram) at the End of your Maneuver.

You remove a damage card at the End of your Maneuver, if your movement ends on the Space Station (and its not a Contested Outpost).

Ergo, as both effect take place at the same time (At the End of your Maneuver), you choose which takes precedence.

If you already had Face-Up Damage cards, for example, you could dispose of one of them, before taking a Face-Down from the Ram, if you wanted...

If you're Undamaged, or not damaged enough to Care, you could take the Damage Card and then Remove it due to the Space Station.

NOTE - This ONLY applies to the Ship that is actively Moving... If BOTH are Parked on the Station, only the one Moving does this... The one who is NOT moving just takes the Card and be Done with it... It won't get to remove a card until its move ENDS on the station.

Yup. I have actually had this occur to me.

Since cell their timing is at the same time you decide the order of operations

Ah good, we did resolve it right then. (Well, not good for me, as I had the ship that wasn't parked on the station. Good that I taught the new guy the right way to resolve it though ;) )

This actually occurs quite often and is very frustrating for the one being rammed but also cant get on the space station. Makes me just want to blow up the station!

I had this happen at a tournament at the FFG Game Center, and the guidance from one of the game developers was that the damage from the ram occurs immediately upon resolving that overlap, and then the station overlap effect takes place. In the RRG for Overlaps, it does state that the damage cards are dealt right away to both ships. And in the Obstacles section, it states effects take place after executing a maneuver. So timing of effects is ramming first then station effect. The incident that sparked this question arising at the tournament, I accidentally rammed one of my corvettes into another one of my corvettes, which resulted in the moving one ending up on the station. Neither my opponent nor myself knew for sure the resolution of effects, and fortunately had somebody official there to clarify.

I had never had this situation occur in a game. I read this thread on Friday. During a game Sunday this situation happened when an AF2 was moving off the base and got blocked by a GSD. Glad I had read this thread so I knew how to adjudicate it.

That is the whole point of threads like this.
