Is this a new ship or has it made an appearance before? Is there any design room left for another B-wing update in X-Wing?
Red B-Wing in Rebels Season 2 Trailer
I don't think the bwing needs any help.
B-Wing was good when it came out. Aces gave it a few more options. It is still good.
I don't think we'll be seeing any new expansions that directly focus on the B-Wing for a long time if ever.
I don't think rebels will result in any new ships or upgrades for ships that also appear in the original trilogy.
They may add some more ships that are unique to Rebels just like the ghost and the inquisitors tie.

Yes, but some new pilots (Hera) would not be bad. ![]()
I'm guessing that the red B-wing in the trailer is some kind of prototype that Hera is instructed to deliver. Historically, it was Keyan that was the first to fly the production level B-wing in the X Wing PC game expansion, but I'm OK with it being introduced into the cannon earlier this way.
As for changes to the game, I might do a repaint after the episode airs and we get better pictures.

This will likely be the case.
Though Phoenix Squadron A-Wings could be cool. If Darth Vader declares you as the target of an attack, reduce your agility to 0 for the rest of the match.
A Hera B-Wing pilot would be cool, because Hera is awesome, but it seems unlikely to me since they'd have to package that card with another new B-Wing expansion. We'll have to see how it goes when the show resumes, but I doubt Hera will be spending too much time in it anyway.

Crew slot didn't really help existing builds out, just gave a new option besides massing blues.

They didn't need help back then either. All they needed was some more variety which we saw in Nera Dantels (would like to playtest her with some of the new ordnance) and Keyan Farlander, which has proven to be a good Elite Pilot. The e2 modification (I don't know why they didn't make it a title) adds in some options. You could run your b with tactician and an ion cannon for super control, intelligence agent and advanced sensors for maneuvering options (if an elite Pilot, advs ia and stay on target), you can run many other combinations. With each new system upgrade and torpedo and modification, the options for the bwing increase.
I think I read somewhere the human pilot was Nera Dantels
Yes, it would be cool to have, however the problem, as stated above, is that the A-wing/B-wing doesn't really need any fixes/updates. Of course, I would love to a Prototype B-wing- PS1; Phoenix squadron A-wing Ps-2; Maybe Hera at Ps-6; and some upgrade cards that would tie in to the new show. A rebel aces "2.0", if you will.
Although the problem is the X-wing and the TIE defender (based on forum complaints) are the one's that need "fixing". Personally I can't wait until Rebel's starts showing some Y-wings. Maybe have a title card (or it can take up the turret slot) that let's dutch/horton have an EPT.(and no, the astromech out of the Rebel transport does not count!!!).
Did you see the laser shot coming out of that thing!!!??
Looked like a Death Star style combined-beam weapon.

Was waiting for someone to mention that. When I saw it I was like,"wait....what....whoah!?"
All I can think of after that was HLC ![]()

It's not good?
Keyan Farlander was the Marek Stele of X Wing right?
Oh and Hera can get in a B Wing. I thought they were making all the Rebels characters as crew?
I'm not totally sure about the timeline, but I suppose the Phoenix Squadron is made of "Spearhead" A-Wings.(I wish there was the Spearhead tile card...) That B-Wing, though, must be an early prototype...
The scene teased at celebration makes it very clear that this is an EXTREMELY new prototype.
Complete with "I'm pretty sure it can fly. On paper"
You'd think they'd have predictive computer models for that kind of thing.
And droid test pilots.
One option that would be interesting on a B-Wing would be exchanging a torpedo tube for a missile tube, similar to how the Y-Wing can get a bomb slot. Given Extended Munitions, that would be a bit of uniqueness for the B-Wing.

It needs a bomb slot because it's supposed to be a bomber. But they already used the trick of kitting out the torpedo slot for a bomb. Maybe if they used the cannon slot for the bomb, or just a title that added a bomb.
See x-wing's are technically bombers because they carry six torpedoes capable of hurting cap ships, I can't think of a single instance in all the videogames and books I've read where b-wings did anything but fire waves of torpedoes.
Ywings I clearly remember bombing with in the rogue squadron games for example.
B-Wings fire lasers and ion cannons too, obviously. But no, I've never seen one equipped to drop bombs. Ever. And with its shape, I don't think it'd work that well. B-Wings can be equipped with "Space Bombs" in the X-Wing series, but those aren't bombs in the sense that they are used in the X-Wing miniature game.
Also one of the main reasons I have not watched Rebels yet is BECAUSE of the preview I saw at Celebration, where they had a B-Wing like 6 freaking years before it was supposed to be developed (and from what I could see, a lack of Roche system). Project Shantipole is how the B-Wing was developed; I don't care what Disney does to canon, in my head it'll always be that way.
Edited by KnightcrawlerI guess b-wings were only called bombers when they, you know, appeared in that movie that came out in 83. Lots of promotional material.
And X-wings were assault fighters, armed with torpedoes. If they were bombers they would have called em bombers. The Y-wings were originally bombers but rigged up like assault fighters as well.
Of course we never saw B-wings do jack in RotJ so the only thing we have to go on is secondary media, or um I guess it's called Legends now. SWCCG did feature B-wing bombers, but I can't remember if they actually did bombing runs too.
bah, who cares about T-65s anymore, all they are good for is killing Porkins. ![]()
too offensive to show
Get with the modern times and get a T-70! ![]()
