We need you to run Quad TLT's and other anti-Fat Turretwing lists

By ParaGoomba Slayer, in X-Wing

Use a Raider.

By which I mean a steel cast of a Raider used as a sledgehammer to bash the Falcons to bits.

Sure, you'll get disqualified, but you'll both reduce the number of Fat Turrets in the world and never have to play against one again!

I took out a fat Falcon running all interceptors.. but then got decimated by a Z swarm!! (It was a 2v2 furball match)

You lost 10% of your list?

So you won then?

:P

"Need to."

Look! A Pancake user! Release the TLT's on him!

Look, a person complaining about turrets, who's solution is more turrets

Release the Buzzdroids on him

So are we entering into an era of rock-paper-scissors lists?

PWTs get owned by TLT lists, which in turn get owned by Swarms which in turn get owned by PWTs? Brobots do well against PWTs and some swarms I hear, I wonder about TLTs tho. BBBBZ seems like a good matchup for most lists except swarms. Dunno, maybe things are diversifying again. Anything that puts more than 2 ships on the board throwing dice until someone asplode.

But I'm sure people will still moan and groan about everything not being fair.

The answer to Fat Turretwing should not be Mass Turretwing. Giving TLTs range 2-3 was a mistake. They should have had the range restriction of other turret upgrades.

Also seriously, AMYOne have redline experience to report. havnt heard a peep about anything other than tlts

I've been running this since GenCon with good results:

"Redline" (27)

Fire-Control System (2)

Extra Munitions (2)

Plasma Torpedoes (3)

Cluster Missiles (4)

Darth Vader (29)

Predator (3)

Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

TIE/x1 (0)

Lieutenant Lorrir (23)

Autothrusters (2)

Total: 100

I've never fired off all his ordnance since I've usually won or he's dead before that point. Most times people go after Vader and then get wrecked by Redline. Clusters with TL + F on the first shot and TL on the second really hurt. If they go after Redline, they have Lorrir and Vader picking at them. If they go after Redline first, you need to be very aggressive with the other two, as Redline won't last long against concentrated fire.

Also, Lorrir is a LOT better than what people give him credit for.

5xGsqd A-wings with Autothrusters, 2x VI, 1x wingman

I ran this against quad tlt's last night and destroyed them. Lost 2 A-wings and had all 5 up until almost the bitter end. Autothruster A-wings can last a long time on 1 hull.

After flying this list a couple times i can honestly tell you any Chir/Han 2ship list is more difficult and more exciting to play than this snoozefest.

...but not to fly against. I'd rather face a TLT list over ANOTHER 2 ship fat turret list again. I've gotten to the point that I beat them most of the time, but it's just the same game over and over again.

sad Redline isn't getting as enthusiastic a response as tlts :(

but at least there's hope :)

TLTs do have a range restriction (notice no range 1). It was necessary because all the ships that can take TLTs are garbage at range 3 and have the hardest time catching up to swift enemies. Having another 1-2 turret would, apart from encourage a lack of variety, make tlt quite inferior to the blaster + r4 combo in scum.

though I also find Ys boring (fly Ks instead ;) they're hilariously inefficient and require strict positioning + use of mines in order to come out ahead)

besides, TLTs aren't the answer to PWTs. They are simply an answer, and a great way to give some perspective as to how boring PWTs are without flying anything nearly as egregious

Redline + clusters was something else out of this wave I had hope would kick cheri/han in the groin

the hypothetical new core set is coming out with a hypothetical new ship that can take thrusters and spank turrets (both PWTs and TLTs)

And you think quad TLT will be different how?

Once the new wears off you'll notice that Ys and HWKs arent exactly maneuverable and beating them will be the same game over and over again. It's not rocket science.

It's disgusting, isn't it? :D

That's the most disgusting thing about Turretwing. That turrets are so hyper mobile because they don't have to face you to shoot at you and also large ship barrel roll/boost that the best, most consistent way to deal with them is to get a turret of your own and just stack a bunch of counter other turret upgrades on it. Like what Paul Heaver did with his Falcon.

What's nice about TLT spam is that once it takes over, countering it will be easier with a traditional non-turret list.

TLT's will not just utterly replace Fat Turrets. Right now, Fat Turrets make up a huge percentage of all tournament lists. Anything that knock that down to at least 25% of all tournament lists will be a dream come true. TLT's won't be the end all be all list like Fat Turrets are now. TLT's can kill the number of fat turrets, though. What people take after that can be a number of things. TLT's introduced into the tournament meta will be a wider and more varied number of lists that I will face at an event.

I shall sit back and eat these as PWTs and PWT-haters square off on the field of battle!lays_the_tears_of_my_enemies_flavored_po

That's actually the exact appeal Of flying tlts

Now the tears are coming from other ducts. It's just sweet, poetic revenge :)

Playing on Scum Side Fat turrets really hate Torkil. 3 Y-wings and Torkil with Recon Spec is a really good way to go.

There are so many delicious combos, I can't wait to try them out. Putting Biggs in and stacking him with focus and evade, Roark/Mux, throwing R7 Tarn Mison in because why the hell not, neo-X-Wings with autothrusters, etc. The ~25 point slot for rebels and scum just got a lot more variety. I even see some space for the mid PS A-Wings like Arvel and Gemmer. If your opponent is flying agility 1 ships, that 2 attack isn't as big of a deal and they'll be able to exploit range 1 doughnuts. With Autothrusters they can tank a lot of TLT shots.

Every. Single. Post. It's becoming comical.

Heh, that's brutal. So are the Roark Swarm Tactics chain builds. It covers up the PS 2 weakness that quad TLT builds have.

Yeah, Roark PS12 swarm is also a great way to go. And yes Autothrusters do tank the TLT's hardcore, however that is only when they had tokens to help assist them. Soontir is the hardest Pilot to take down but even so, he also has to be careful.I don't know meta's in other countries or cities but I can say that autothrusters will still always be around. Perhaps we will see more due to how OP the TLT's are.

On another note, R7 Tarn is a good choice but probably not for competitive play. If I take an X-wing to the field I would take the big Stress machine (Hobbie Klivian with R3-A2 and Flechette Torps). 2 stress on any small ship (while getting rid of your own), with one attack is very hurtful. Add Munitions Failsafe So You can continue to use it.

Enough with the soap box... :)

So you've simplified the game to Rock Paper Scissors. You want me to stop playing rock and start playing paper so that you can play scissors? Cool - I'll stick with rock.

I love this game and I enjoy turrets in them (cuz guess what??? Star Wars has turrets!! OMG!!) TLTs are great and add variety to the game. That's what it's all about. The more competitive lists there are the better! But if you hate turrets so much and want us all to boycott them, just find a new game to play.

Let people fly what they want to fly. And fly casual! ;)

Went to my flgs today to pick up some wave 7 and a 4th hwk for (tlt) reasons but the hwk was sold out. Stopped at B&N on my way home to check for a hwk there... sold out. (I asked about any blue core sets in the back. They have boxed seasonal stock for the entire gaming section in the back they can't open for another week or so. Whatever that means.) So I went online to get the rest of my wave 7 and a hwk. MM & CSI both sold out of the hwk.

Never expected to see the hwk sold out.

Oh my. This isn't good. My imperial list got rofl stomped by non-wave 7 Hwk's last week... this weekend is going to be tough. Of course, to be fair, I did roll allot of blanks... I threw 9 dice at it total in one round and only scored 2 hits.
