R3-A2 and Twin Laser Turret

By AWBassett, in X-Wing Rules Questions

With this combo, can I make three attacks and use R3-A2 on each of them?

When attacking at Range 2-3, you may reroll any of your blank results.

– You cannot attack ships outside your firing arc. After you perform a primary weapon attack, you may immediately perform an attack with a turret.png secondary weapon.

– When you declare the target of your attack, if the defender is inside your firing arc, you may receive 1 stress token to cause the defender to receive 1 stress token.

– Attack: Perform this attack twice (even against a ship outside your firing arc). Each time this attack hits, the defender suffers 1 damage. Then cancel all dice results. Attack: 3. Range: 2-3.

Funkleton's "yes/no/maybe" is an excellent summary of the state of the rules on this point. The most conservative answer is no, so that's how I plan to rule it until FFG clarifies it publicly and officially.

Arggh. I really wish this and Cluster Missiles had been worded better to clarify whether they have to both attack the same target or not without needing the FAQ.

The issue is mainly over the trigger for R3-A2 - "When you declare the target for your attack...."

With cluster missiles - which are basically worded identically to TLT - there is a question mark over whether you declare the target of the attack twice since you are restricted to attacking a single target.

It seems that you just declare the target once then skip straight to rolling the dice for the second attack - but that's never been clarified explicitly in those terms, so we just don't know for sure.

Come now... the game's only been out what, three years? I think you're being a little unrealistic in expecting them to have Cluster Missiles fixed ALREADY. Sheesh.

you don`t need to attack the same target withe the secondary as you do with the primary.

Those two are seperate attacks.

As far the secondary weapon is concerned you have to attack the same target.

The card states "ATTACK": perform attack twice.

This means you declare a target (single target) for an attack - then you execute the same attack two times.

You get three attacks on two targets. One on the first and two on the second.

Thus, you get to give and take two stress tokens. Because you declare target twice. You can of course declare the same target both times.
