The Massing at Sullust

By Artifixprime, in Star Wars: Armada

I expected spoilers soon once I saw this. They will likely be making sure that people will know what cards there will be and the point costs.

Finaly some word about this massive delay. They should have been honest before about the delay, not just be quiet. I would have acceped a delay if they was honest about it. Even if they didnt know what time it would be ready.

Now all the money I have invested in my huge order of Wave 2 will be sitting in the bank of miniaturemarket for one year before I get my purchased items. This I have never in my live experienced.

I think my preorder days from FFG is over. I will buy it when it is out.

When this is said I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas again......sooooo close now.......just a little bit longer..

May the force make everyone strong until the unknown release day......

Dude, they are probably under CRAZY NDAs with Disney. You can't expect them to come out and say "hey we have a big huge secret release coming out so sorry about Armada!"

Don't preorder before an official release date has been set. This has happened before and it will happen again with every single company that manufactures anything ever. They're being honest with us as soon as they can be. How in the hell can your money be sitting for a year? They went live in April?

Yeah, don't preorder anything, why would you? You aren't reserving a copy- they are going to have enough. Preorder a month out after it's officially been set in stone.

FFG isn't taking your preorders. It's 3rd party sellers speculating who are HAPPY to take your money up front. FFG's release dates are tentative- they are explicit about that. Hell, anyone making anything in China has tentative release dates. Trust me, I've been on this end of it!

Yeah it's been vaguely hinted at. But these legal agreements are not to be taken lightly! I wouldn't want to skirt the line with Disney, personally!

That is company suicide

Really FFG, no tournament kits for Australia? That's pretty shite.

I'm thinking its an oversight. We always get put in last for the pre-releases anyway.

So I've got a couple of months to get Armada and learn the rules before I can have my three Imperial Star Destroyers.

I need a bigger gaming area

:)

Have to agree - pre-order is always a bad idea. I got burned on GMT games & Compass Games a few years ago.

Now, I pre-order nothing. I'll buy if if it can be in my hands within a week.

Aus-whatnow? Isn't that where all the Kangaroos live? Only joking I'm just bitter the colony is a better place to live than the homeland...

I'm ok with pre orders on an established brand. So what you waited a year? Better than those video game companies who rush out incomplete/bad games for $60 just to make people "happy". It's not like in most cases the vendor won't/can't refund the money.

As for the lack of information from FFG... Yeah, if there is an Episode VII tie in, I understand not saying anything. If there isn't, I'm a bit more upset. All they had to say was production issues beyond our control, and move on. No NDA broken, no spoilers leaked, just an honest fact of business.

Trust me, as a service rep for my employer, I have to eat a lot of crap on a daily basis for the mistakes of a person on the production floor(hey, it happens) or because a vendor can't make a promise date for parts.

Delay was due to the XWing force awakens stuff and whatever other FA stuff they may or may not have coming out.

I'm not sure what the Disney EpVII news embargo has to do with Armada wave2 spoilers, or shipping product, we already know what ships we are getting. They are all from before EpVII, so I don't see the conflict really.

The fact they can only print so much stuff at one time force awakens stuff jumped the line at the factory

Dat ISD... I need to put out feelers in my area to see how many people would participate

What is taking them so long?

Additional Playtesting probably

In the article states,

"When we first announced the upcoming release of Armada Wave II, we anticipated that its expansions would be available to retailers by the third quarter of 2015. However, due to an unavoidable manufacturing delay, we have had to push back the wave's release. We are now on schedule to see Wave II released in the fourth quarter of 2015."

I hope we get it all before Star Wars Battlefront! Otherwise, I won't really care until late December or even out to January 2016.

I'm not active in X-wing currently, but for pretty much all of this year and most of the back half of last year, its been pretty well known that there was some colossal !@#$up at the plant in China where they make all the minis. Details are pretty scarce, but it's probably related to the poor(er) quality control that's been noticed since Wave 5 came out. That, combined with the shipping strikes on the West Coast last holiday season caused a backlog that's still probably getting sorted out.

Details are pretty scarce...

Details are scarce, because they could not talk about them. The major delay was caused by the Force Awakens stuff being put ahead of Armada and other stuff on the production line.

I'm sure FFG would of rather had Armada out sooner then this, but Disney said "TFA stuff by Sept 4th, and pray we do not alter the deal further." The problem is, they weren't and still aren't allowed to talk about it, until sept 4th.

As for the ISD II. 120 points is interesting, and I will take the time to point out I was right. ;)

At 120, that means 3 ISD's with Motti (the cheapest commander so far Imp side) is 384, leaving 16 points for upgrades. I honestly can't see that being a real viable list. I could be wrong of course, but it seems to me 2 ISD's will be the most that most people would want.

curse this not having a presence in australia :( on the plus side yay news leak for the imp star deuce.

Certainly does. You'd need to get onto your LGS to Apply through the Distributor - BUT THERE IS NO REASON WHY SOMEONE LIKE THE COMBAT COMPANY COULD NOT DO THIS IN THEIR MASSIVE GAMING AREA

Urgh, I'm working that Saturday. My only hope is that one of the LGSs decides to hold it on the Sunday.

Luckily, our International LGS was Featured by Fantasy Flight not too long ago, so we're hoping we get Priority - but Tournaments are booked out on the Saturdays until the end of October... So with any luck, the Sentry Box will be having it on a Sunday... Our Postponed August Armada Tournament has ended up that way.

Motti, 1 ISD, and 2 VSD, season otherwise to taste would be a real dream crusher.

Please don't post speculation as fact. TIA.

Christian Peterson said during in flight report something along the lines of "We wanted to have wave two available but it was delayed because of stuff I can't tell you about yet. "

We now know that is Force Awakens X-Wing stuff which was leaked over the last few days. Official announcement likely with all the others next week on the third during the 18 hour Force Awakens worldwide merchandise unboxing on YouTube.
