New Article in some time!

By Animewarsdude, in Star Wars: Armada

They may seem as fast as a MKII but they sort of are not because of the bigger base. Those bases are almost twice as big as a medium base. So they will not be able to get out of range as easy, and they won't be able to turn as tight to the edge of the board either.

VSD's will be used to guard the rear of your ISD. IMHO.

I was thinking that too. Especially with an ISD blasting at speed 2/3, flanking is going to become a breeze for Rebels :D

Exactly, from the "Here they Come" article, Contain talks about preventing a critical effect, but we don't know the wording yet (for example, could ships with access to 2 critical effects still apply one ?).

I was wondering about that too, would XX-9's be more useful against the big guys? I haven't seen them get a lot of use, so it might be an interesting choice if contain is just against 'the first critical effect'.

I read "Here They Come" again and here is the wording of the article :

"Featured on both the Imperial I-class andImperial II-class Star Destroyers, the Contain token can cancel the standard critical effect of a shot that passes through your shields to your hull"

Assuming the Contain rule hasn't changed : If it is only the standard critical effect, XX-9 are going to see a tad more use. Useless against ACMs or Overload Pulse/Ion Cannons.

We're going to see such cards much more than before.

I expected the 2 to be that expensive

You nailed it :P

Useless against ACMs or Overload Pulse/Ion Cannons.

Also against Dodonna's Pride.

Well, it only has 2 attacks! They cant kill us all, CHHAAAARRRRGGGEEE!

So, I haven't seen anyone posting about the ISD I before this release so here is a link to some sorta spoilers.

Basic point being that the ISD I has a Squadron value of 5.

holy crap, does one ship controlling 7 squadrons change the game?

It might be safe to assume that the article is a couple months out of date and the ships stats have changed. But I do not see 5 squadron value as being unlikely.

Don't give me that harebrained fluff gibberish. This is about balance. An ISD will kill simply kill Nebulons, even Corvettes will have a hard time running from it. And they can push their squadron value to six. 6 bomber squadrons with Rhymer, next the ISD which has nothing to fear closing in and no trouble at all staying in command distance. And the ISD can easily maintain formation with Gladiators. The Victory has become a waste of points. Way to go, FFG.

"Unavoidable production delays"

Play testing and balancing these behemoths would probably be it, they cant print the cardboard chits and cards without the final rendition of the rules and values they have, while they can still go ahread and produce the plastic models and bases, and paint them, without needing the final ruleset.

Making it so that it doesn't outclass the mediums, but can hold its own against smalls, has got to be a challenge! I for one don't how they would of done that, but it appears that an extra 2 months of play-testing might of payed off (I hope).

More like force awakens XWing stuff jumped the queue. Playtesting for this would have done some time ago most likely they are onto wave three or even four now.

This just begs the question: Where will the massing at Sullust events be held?

Any word on a Massing at Sullust event in Columbus?

I'll admit, I expected the ISD-II to run as high as 110 but I didn't expect 120... not unhappy though, it certainly increases my Imperial fleet total by quite a bit. I've got two already ordered and now that I know their price and that they don't steer like a brick, I might need to snap up a third.

That said, the whole Massing at Sullust event might be the first event that I really be willing to travel for. I have a sneaking suspicion my 'home city' won't have anyone running it, but a few hundred miles away to Calgary or even down to Vancouver/Seattle might be in the cards. For those who don't win at the event, what's the usual lag time between the close of these kind of events and the new wave showing up? I distinctly remember at least one X-wing event where it was a few months difference.

PPL your missing the point, you can get a free 60$ ship, this is big, i thought Assault on Imdar was cool but this just blows that event away.

The most an Imperial fleet could have is three ISD-IIs Avoid the front arcs of the Imps and a Nebulon fleet wil eat them alive.

They were just announced today and stores have to apply so the answer is no one knows yet even the stores

The big spoiler for me is the defensive retrofit on the ISD. That means Advanced Projectors or ECMs which will totally help with survivablity, might also make XI7s more obsolete.

This is news to retailers. They have until September 8th to submit an application. FFG has a limited number of kits. After the 8th, they will decide which stores get the kits. Note: I have no idea if the demand will meet or exceed the number of kits available. Once they know which stores are running the event, they will post a list.

If you want your local store to host an event, show them the article and ask them to submit an application. I've already done so with mine.

EDIT: According to another poster, they may approve stores on a first come, first serve basis. Or his local stores are confident. Either way, they will post the official list of stores running the event after September 8th.

They held X-Wing Wave 2 pre-release events and then had some catastrophic delay, making it months. I'm pretty sure with Assault on Imdaar Alpha it was much closer to release, like within a month.

And my research shows that is correct. X-Wing Wave IV pre-release was held between May 30th-June 2nd. On June 26th they posted the article saying it was available at stores everywhere. I know those articles are usually a few days to a week after my local stores get them.

ECM's all the way, no more brace cancelling aims. I am quite excited for the ISD I. It is probably only 105 points if its squadron 4.

I'm pretty sure I can get at least 2 maybe 3 of these kits down in the Florida Panhandle. I just spammed the LGS's i run armada events for. It was along the lines of, "OHGODPLSORDERNOWNAONOWNAO"

A few local stores by me have already announced on face book that ffg already arroved there application and the will definitely have the event. People will know where soon

My local store has also confirmed they are getting the kit and has already scheduled their event.

I have 2 stores that are confirming they have tournament kits ordered and will be getting them.
