Starting Morality

By Pumkinspyder, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I just got the Core Rulebook and I'm confused as to morality for new characters. I understand players start with a score of 50. The book also says that you can alter your morality to gain extra XP. I didn't see a chart stating how much morality increase/decrease for the added points. The only thing I saw was +/- 21 to your score. I do play EotE does it act like the obligation in that game? Like x obligation for x credit/XP?

It doesn't actually work like that. Page 49, second column, second paragraph under "Player Character Starting Morality Values":

"...each character begins with a Morality of 50. However, to represent their prior experiences in they galaxy, they can choose to modify their starting Morality or to gain additional experience points or credits with which to purchase additional gear."

Emphasis mine. And then it lists bullet points of the options: +10 XP, +2500 credits, +5 XP and +1000 credits or -/+21 Morality.

EDIT: line skip gaff

Thanks! I may have misread the book. I'll re-read when I get home....

You just pick one. No point spending like Obligation/Duty.

I kind of like that better. Never really used the obligation system....

Somebody here mentioned they've switched to the F&D way of things and set things like obligation or duty based on the group size and needs. I think I might do that in the future.

That works. I just use them for character background and possible campaign ideas. The whole rolling to see who's obligation/duty comes up and taking strain seems like too much work

Our group so far has used Obligation for all characters, with force users also tracking morality.
