Wave 7 buying strategy

By ZoraTheHutt, in X-Wing

  • Hounds Tooth only if you're rich and money is not an issue. at 29 points this thing is only 1 point cheaper than a TIE Defender. You can only take 3 and the named pilots adding 4 to 6 you can take at most all the pilots except Bossk and only have 2 points to spare, but since they lack the synergy that IG-2000 Agressors have 1 is all you would want to field. Also you need to make sure you have a Most Wanted or Z-95 headhunter expansion pack first if you want to make use of the Natasha Pup before you go buying a second one.

I found this one odd. For one, why compare to the Tie Defender? I mean, it's not even the same faction. I always consider it pointless to compare to something in a different faction as you might be more than willing to pay more for a ship if it were in a different faction due to how it fits in with the rest of the list.

Next, you compare it to IG-88 and how two of them don't have synergy. Neither does the Firespray, but you see good lists with two of them in it. What's crazy is that you can even get THREE of these in a list, which is something you can't do with any other large based ship for Scum at the moment.

It is pretty cheap to have a lot of shield and hull in a list. It's not a turret, but it's got a 180 firing arc, which is pretty significant. It could be a good support ship for a list. It seems you are ready to dismiss it quickly when it hasn't even been field tested yet (except those on Vassal).

Of course, I say that with the fact that I'm not buying one. I'd rather have 2 Kihraxz fighters than 1 Hound's Tooth. More my play style, though. I could be wrong, though.

Because many people play for Standard, that 100 point list thus it shows how much it takes up. The example with the Aggressors is just to show why purchasing two of those large ships is justified but not purchasing two of the Hounds Tooth packs. There was not supposed to be any commonality between the Aggressor and Hounds tooth other than faction and large ship type.

Long story short 1 of the Hounds Tooth expansion pack is enough.

2 K-Wings for quad TLT.

Next stop: TLT Meta.

Good riddens Stealth Device :P

Theres also the fact that you only get 1 cluster mine set and 1 Conner net in the K-Wing and Punisher, yet you need at least 2 sets of the bombs for a single ship with extra munitions.

Only if you plan on having several on the table at once - if you're dropping them with some confidence that they'll be hit immediately then you don't need the second token.

That said, I do think that following the release of extra munitions they should include multiples of everything.

It's a bit harder to setup a cluster mine to explode all tokens in one go unless a swarm is following you or a large base ship. If one gets 1-2 tokens to detonate and then feels it's time drop another set, oh look they can't because theres only 1 copy.

Now I feel like I have to get 2 of each unless I want to wait til possibly January to fly squads I've already setup.

I suspect that the third party token / dial / template manufacturers will be on the case pretty sharpish - and lets face it - you're going to want to buy acrylic ones anyway.

I'll stick to my official cardboard tokens. Only thing acrylic I really want is maneuver templates. Already got a range ruler from the Spring Kit.

Two K-wings and 2 punishers out of the gate

One singular Hounds tooth when I figure out out to transport it reasonably

5 x special k if someone manages to break it in a weird way

I could use the new turrets for my Scum Y-wing, but I don't play rebels. I'm not going to buy a ship I'll never fly just for the upgrade cards.

Helps that my bro buys Reb stuff. I use his engine upgrade cards more than he ever has.

Anyway, buying 1 of each ship except K-wing.

Really, I want more autothrusters, but when the hell would I fly 2 Star Vipers? The title makes it usable, but the title is unique.

That's one of my biggest reasons for just buying 1 Hounds Tooth, I just don't know where I'm going to put it! I'd like to get 5 Khirax but I'm just getting 3 to see how they shake out. I've been wanting to try a 3 Khirax Prince Xizor Build
