New blaster colours

By mazz0, in X-Wing

Have we seen any ships from the new film shooting each other yet? Has there been a trailer since the one with the crashed Star Destroyer and the Light Broadsword?

I'm just wondering what colours the range ruler will be in the new starter set (not that I've any reason to believe there will be a new starter set, of course). Could that be our first indication of the new blaster bolt colours?

TIEs look to be firing green lasers still.

Source is the 2nd trailer:

Green = Good

Red = Bad

Yellow/Orange/Pink = Not bad

Blue = somewhere between Good and Not bad

Purple = Dark Side

Wich is why Tie Fighters shoot green... Gawddamn terrorists ;)

Ah yes, I forgot you saw the TIEs shooting in that trailer. Still green for them then, I'm guessing still red for the rebels too in that case.

Purple = Dark Side

Was that a cross between lightsaber colours and nonsense?

While I know absolutely nothing about ship laser colors, as far as I understand it, George only wanted 4 light saber colors which is evident in the movies as well as explained better the the Old Republic game.

Green = Jedi Consular

Blue = Jedi Guardian

Yellow = Jedi Sentinel

Red = Sith

When Luke constructed his saber, the change in color from blue to green represented not only that he was different than his father, but also that his mindset and "role" where different as well. Also, it was Samuel L that approached Lucas and asked that his saber be purple. Lucas agreed as the color (a blend of blue and red) showed that he was a morally middle road character.

As for ship lasers, it could just be that red and green are opposite each other on the color wheel and would contrast each other the most. It could have been orange & blue, or yellow and purple just as easily.

In all three of the games based on the Old Rebublic (KoTOR, KoTOR II: The Sith Lords and The Old Republic) there were a bajillion* different lightsaber colors. In the first KoTOR there was at least green, red, orange, blue, purple, yellow and I'm pretty sure 1 or 2 other colors I might be forgetting.

The issue I have with trying to say Luke was already different from his father when he constructed his green saber is he did not show he was very different. He wore almost all black, similar to Anakin in Episode 3. He used the Force to Choke living beings. He even tried to assassinate the Emperor, giving into his emotions. The point where Luke's journey finally changed was the moment he cut off Vader's prosthetic hand. He realized he was on the same path that his father had been so many years ago and corrected it by stopping his assault, chucking his saber and saying "I am a Jedi". He in effect, was saying nope, I'm better than this, I won't give into my anger and hate.

Should have said "tried to show" because as we all know, it was a Lucas script...

Green = Good

Red = Bad

Yellow/Orange/Pink = Not bad

Blue = somewhere between Good and Not bad

Purple = Dark Side

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

You are at least missing Silverish-Green and Silver/White. My favourite light saber colours ^^

What kind of color blindness? I know there are varying kinds, like Red/Green and the like.

I'm not sure what the post hoc rationalisation was, but I heard the green lightsaber was because blue didn't show up well against the bright blue Tatooine sky.

What do you mean about Mace Windu being morally middle of the road? He was a leading member of the Jedi council, surely he was as goody two-shoes as they come?

Personally, I think the idea of colour coding your lightsaber was always stupid. I don't know about you, but if I was a secret Sith Lord I would seriously consider not advertising the fact with a red lightsaber, thus making my ability to pretend not to be evil slightly difficult. They should have just made it Vader's personal choice to have a red one, not dogma.

In fact in the EU Jedi like Kyp Durron and Jacen Solo had red lightsabers.

I thought Purple = Mace Windu!

There are only two types

Red/Green and Blue Purple....unfortunately I am both which is not common at all...also makes those stupid books with dots in a circle and needing to find the # in the dots a royal pain the butt

Whats awesome about the sig colors is that it specifically says what color you are using in the brackets. That is how I knew what colors were being used

Utini!

Imo, that was pink. Purple is closer to blue

This guys knows the truth. Good = blue, Bad = red when it comes to lightsabres. Unless you're filming aainst a blue sky ina desert where blue doesn't show up well, in which case Good = green. The only exception in the films is Mace with his purple sabre, which he specifically requested.

In the EU, he is expanded upon and shown to be someone who is good, but leans towards the dark side at times. He is able to control these leanings and not go too far.

It also explains why your Rebel red is mostly orange-ish. Try this red (#ff0000).

I hate when I hit quote instead of edit. Why doesn't this site allow post deletions?

I thought it depended on the crystal and the Sith's Lightsabers were red because they used synthetic crystals.

Truth. They were more powerful with the synthetic crystals.

Truth. They were more powerful with the synthetic crystals.

More powerful? I always heard that they were less durable and more likely to break because they were mass-produced, rather than individually handcrafted. Basically, they were the equivalent of Walmart lightsabers.

Why would they need to mass-produce two lightsabers? Or is this one of those holdovers from the good ol' days when there were tons of Sith?
