Helping Noobs Build a List

By Boba Rick, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

So my friends like to play IA, but they don't own IA - so I know the pieces better than them, even though I'm pretty new to the game. A big part of skirmish is making a good list. I was hoping you guys could help me and my friends out with some lists! We don't want to spend a bunch of time sorting through a gazillion command cards and trying to figure stuff out - we want to play!

I own the core set and all the available expansions and ally packs, including all the Twin Shadow stuff. So, no 4x4 stuff for us.

Half the fun of IA: Skirmish is making up fun lists!

If you just want to jump in right away with some fun ones, here's a few I can recommend. These aren't necessarily the top of the top super competitive lists, but all of them are really fun and can be made with what you've got:

Rebels:
40 points: Han and Chewie
15 - Chewie
12 - Han
5 - Jyn
3 - Gideon (or Mak)
3 - R2-D2
2 - C3-P0

Han and Chewie buff each other when next to each other. Also note that Jyn and Han both have "Cunning" which means each time they get a surge cancel (circle symbol) they got an extra block... which is great because C3-P0 and Han both give free surge cancels (and therefore free blocks to Han/Jyn) to adjacent figures!

40 points: Heroes of the Rebellion
9 - Fenn
8 - Garkhaan
7 - Diala
5 - Jyn
3 - Gideon
3 - Mak
3 - R2-D2
2 - C3-P0

With this list you get to use almost all the unique figures. Great for learning which ones you like/don't like.

Imperials:
40 points: Vader's Fist
18 - Darth Vader
8 - Royal Guard
6 - Stormtrooper
6 - Stormtrooper
2 - Imperial Officer

The classic Vader list. One of the first and most popular lists people used to talk about.

40 points: Stormtrooper Platoon
10 - Kayn Somos
9 - Elite Stormtroopers
6 - Stormtroopers
6 - Stormtroopers
6 - Heavy Stormtroopers
2 - Imperial Officer
1 - Rule by Fear

Overwhelm them with superior numbers! Make sure to bring as many Trooper command cards as you can, especially Reinforcements!

Mercenary Scum:
40 Points: Fett and Friends
13 - Boba Fett
7 - Elite Sandpeople
7 - Trandoshan
6 - Elite Nexu
3 - Gideon
3 - Mak
1 - Temporary Alliance

A balanced but deadly combination of range, mobility, and melee. Use Gideon to Focus Mak for a deadly across the map Sniper/Spotter combo. Trandos and Sandpeople are squishy but deadly when in melee range.

40 Points: They Just Won't Die
13 - Boba Fett
1- w/ Heavy Weapons attachment (forgot the name)
12 - IG-88
10 - Luke
3 - Gideon
1 - Temporary Alliance

This list is fun because all the heroes besides Gideon have 5+ speed and the ability to heal themselves as well as command cards that allow them to activate more than once or perform more than one attack. Focus Boba with Gideon when you want to use the ~~Blast ability he gets with the Heavy Weapons attachment.
