Your Favourite Deck that you ever Built!

By Theo7, in UFS General Discussion

Simple Question realy! Out of all the decks you have built over your time of playing UFS what was your favourite and why?
It doesnt have to have been one that won anything and by no means does it need to be you best deck that you ever built!

Il start us off!
My Favourite deck i ever built was my :Sophitia: I still miss this deck alot!
Sophitia was always my second favourite chacter on Soul Calibur 3 and one of my friends in the meta had already tried this Sophitia off of life and decided to dissasemble it in place of Yeong Seong (thats not how its spelt is it...?) I always loved the ability and saw how fantastic the deck could be with Whereabouts Unknown so i built her off of Order.
Admitedly I wasnt sure what I was doing at first and it started off as a throw/large attack deck that could mill if needed but then of course the descovery of Armoured Defence changed that alot. And low and behold Sophitia 1 shot kill, you have no hand was born!
I took her to UK Nationals 2008 and came 39th out of just over 100 people which i thought wasnt too bad for my first major tournament.
I then had to edit the deck a bit to handle the rotation but with the re-release of Widow Maker and Armoured defence that wasnt too much of a problem I only realy had to change my kill from Sophitia's Guardian Judgement to Go Shoryuken. Added in Dark Heart and Military Rank for recursion of my kill (Dark heart was great with sophitias ability, you just happen to *forget* to play armoured defence play a widow maker discard heir hand, let it hit they try to draw and.... Responce you dont fdraw anything and i get X amount of attacks back from my discard pile!)
ahhhhh Good times Good times.
Took Sophitia to UK Team Nationals 2008 afterwards and helped my Team (Dan-Nemesis playing Ibuki and Joe-Viewtiful_Joe playing surprise surprise Donovan) come Second which was great because it got me alot of the Soul calibur promo foundations that i hadnt been ablt to get hold of untill then!

There we go i have rambled enough! Now lets cheer these forums up and remenise together!

the floor is all yours!

Oh hands down my fav deck I ever made was my *Ibuki* deck on Life. If i went second sometimes i got lucky and would do like 20 damage. God I miss Kunai in to Temporal Ascension. Sadly it seems everyone hated it or something cause i never got a once of priase for it><. I remember when i played james when he came back to NY with his chun-li deck he got me good first round but then i won the next two. That was the only time i ever played james and actually won. So I guess the fact I actually won against him and with a deck that was running on my favorite symbol instantly made that my fav deck. Drawing in to multiple Kasumi-Suzaku in one turn after playing like 2 widow makers so I know what was in your hand and getting at least one block out of your hand and spaming foundations to clog the card pool while having Shinobis in the staging area is pretty intense if ya ask me.

Blanka* of fire when that set came out. Never got the Ground-Shave Rollings that I needed for it, but it was one of my favorites. Most every attack was a Blanka attack too, Overhand Claw, Back-Step Rolling, Vertical Rolling attack, loved his support first time out. Closely followed by Akuma5, I loved his ability and 1CC support, had like 12 1CCs, most if not all his, in that deck but boy was it a blast to play.

Tri-Symbol Victor***

I took the deck to Worlds 08 and did pretty well with it (30th or something)
But it was so much fun, I reanimate looked mentally unstable and jacknife kick, I could jackknife kick fully multipled to come up with like 26 attacks without much trouble, and then if I managed to find savage fighter you would just cry.

Also whereabouts unknown a few times into a multiple 10+ void nova with savage fighter is a lot of damage, that was fun too haha

Then when rotation and bannings happened I made a darkness blade/mega spike loop deck (but people know how that worked so no need to explain it)

Water, All, Starter Terry.

It was so much fun looping Burning Knukles, dash uppercut on Defence. With buster wolf, kuni loop on Offense. It really was a deck that really punished people for attacking.

Umigame

Oh great thread. Hmm, I tend to think of my favorite decks in a couple different ways. Some are local decks that I made, that my playgroup had no clue what to expect - like right after Dark Path came out and everyone was making Ryu's Asharu Senku decks with Ken and Sagat, I was the only one who made him with...Ryu. It used Bo Rush to draw a billion cards and autowin lol. Funny deck, and sometimes I just won with Bo Rush. After it was errated, I didn't have to take my deck apart, since i was using Ryu anyway. Added bonus.

My favorite decks that I actually piloted in tournaments, though - aside from every iteration of Dhalsim - were my Cody deck that won SCC that I literally thew together the night before having never played Cody much before, and the Moon Sault Slayer Order/Good Yoshimitsu and Earth/All Astaroth SMASH that I ran in MWCC singles and teams, respectively. I got 8th in Singles and 4th in Teams, with two janky but well-designed decks that nobody ever saw coming, lol. It was awesome.

ooo i can't just say 1 deck.

Hugo All Life deck. i missed those days....too bad he's banned. but the deck would do rediculous things like lasting 40 minutes till my opponent decked out lol. ninja computer geek, battle disc system, and some other All Life cards were just frustrating for my opponent. my favorite quotes "wth, how do you beat a wall that just grows?!" and "Hugo doesn't win, your opponent just looses!"

Iori promo. this went through a bunch of changes from completely evil, to order evil, to fire evil, to fire order...so much fun but i could never make a decent build but the damage it did was so much fun

Vega Chaos Evil. i'm currently using this right now and i will throw out 4 attacks once i get my setup. first 2 attacks will be from 5-10 damage each, while the last 2 will be earth divides swinging for 14-20 dmg each. plus there should be enough response negation that i don't have to worry about void trio tooo much...still working on it though

Starter Twelve, eventually stacking the UR.

It was my favorite because I ran a set of X.C.O.P.Y. and his binary foundations, meaning I could effectively run the opponent over with their own character-only attack from their discard pile, using Mission of Peace and Challenged to re-ready the binaries :)

My second favorite was a Good Mina (the archer girl from Samurai Shodown). I loved it because I would use a Super Freak Lunge, then let them pump the damage of their attack, not block to double the damage then play Reversal (the action card) and laugh as I then double the effect on Reversal FTW.

Old School Rare Sagat! FTW!

You know you've built a good deck when James Hata says, "Wow, that's a good deck? Are you going to Nats next weekend?"

Tough choice,

Either the fire Adon I ran at canats 07 banking 100% on challenge the master for steadies turn 2 kills. A deck so simple yet so visious I ranked 10th without having had any sleep the night prior,

or block 2 air felicia with please help me to abuse her 5 to 1 gimmick. I miss that action so much ;_; Playing 15 cards by making only 5 checks rocked

wow let's see every deck i made was my favorite

I started out with astoroth, then i went to Adon pump with penatrate lunge, then sagat tiger uppecut + penatrate lunge, then a long run with dhalsim discard, m. bison evil lock down, Vega fruit ****, yung sun+methodical fighter,TIra stage, 100 Roses rose,Rock Diesel, dhalsim starter deck out, chun li D, hugo fortune and glory, ukyo fortune and glory, flashy luise, Ibuki turbo,Split attack Ken,Donovon lock down deck out, miser negate deck out ,bishamon top deck deck out, kyo speed deck out and my last deck i made is kyoshiro beats.

All/Evil Astaroth that i ran for most of the 2008 season. Deck ran control pieces like well Pieces of Eight and Higher Calibur, while at the same time running awesome ALL cards like Military Rank and Curse Broken. I.E. 31 vitality character + false pretenses = ridunkulous wall.

Life CSS Ruru

Looking back at that deck it was dumb how many banned/almost banned cards where in it. I placed tops in a FoP and 2 AoPs with that build and I didnt even use Rejction (with Happy Holiday you dont really need it lol)

Order Aggro/Control Donovan from last year's worlds. Top 16ed with the deck, placed I think 3rd or 4th in Swiss, only loss in Swiss was to Hata. Ran Dark Heart in the main, saw brains melt from it given the field full of crazy recursion and Military Rank/BRT antics. Deck was an absolute blast.

Also, oldschool Tira. Piloted the deck for a loooooong time.

I have probably made more decks than the entire colchester playgroup out of all of them though my **Dhalsim** Mill deck was the funnest deck I have ever made since it wasnt supposed to win at all and it won alot more than it should have. Using Rare Card, Signature Style and Penny Arcade to ready him which was how the deck worked.

Genkotsu Stamp Donovan!

Gotta be All/Fire Alex that Archimedies helped me built. Went damned near undefeated period.

All of All's control cards, and a kill turn of Chain Throw, Mercurious, KFT, Absurd, Absurd, Multiple 2, and then if they were still alive 8th Bill

Rare Genjuro w/ 1cc Madness - Best 1cc deck out there, it put the 1cc Akuma decks to shame. Being able to play Blazing Cadenza, Blazing Cadenza, Messatsu w/ Multiple 2, Eye of the Tiger, Eye of the Tiger on turn 2 was amazing. Where's our 1cc in this format? We don't need Feline Spike silliness!

Starter Sakura featuring Shunpu Kyaku - An All/Water split that had a ton of really neat tricks by being able to Shunpu into an 8th Bill. Shunpu was a good early example of how to do character only enhances, which is being put to somewhat good use today.

Old Skool ***Zangief*** Throw Burn. Loved that deck.

Since we just recently started to run tourney's again at my store my friend has made a new format himself so everyone that we know that's returning can play with their old cards. The format is that if you play a character you MUST play with all the support that character has if you can. So, with Zangief I came up with this.

Off of EARTH.

STARTING CHARACTER: 01
[1] 6:6 ***Zangief*** [Earth, Evil, Life]

ACTIONS: 04
[4] 1:4 Siberian Training [All, Earth, Void]

ATTACKS: 16
[4] 8:2 3H12 Final Atomic Buster [Death, Earth, Void]
[4] 5:3 2H5 Spinning Pile Driver [Earth, Fire, Void]
[4] 4:2 2H3 Body Pres [Death, Earth, Void]
[4] 5:2 3H4 Air Throw [Earth, Fire, Void]

FOUNDATIONS: 40
[4] 2:5 Red Cyclone of Mother Russia [All, Earth, Void]
[4] 2:5 In Service to Country [All, Earth, Void]
[4] 3:5 Ring Veteran [Earth, Order, Void]
[4] 2:5 National Hero [Earth, Fire, Void]
[4] 3:5 Grappler [Earth, Fire, Void]
[4] 4:5 Beefy [All, Earth, Void]

[4] 0:5 The Human Weapon of Steel [All, Earth, Water]
[4] 1:5 Altered Mind and Body [All, Earth, Water]
[4] 1:4 Battle Prowess [Earth, Life, Water]
[4] 1:5 Brooding [Death, Earth, Fire]

So far? Yeah, FUN.

Air Hanzo. The original 8HS one.

Won **** near everything but was SOOO much fun to play. Mostly because it auto-won against Void and everyone played Void thinking it was impervious. Also killing Floating Fatman's Hugo turn 2 every single time I played him - that deck just made Hanzo see red.

I maintain the banning of several key cards in that deck was why I never attended worlds the year we sent some New Zealanders.

Sf04 *Sakura* based first of fire, later of water.. was my first deck that was based on simply attacking every dam turn and spam out my hand :) Used only mostly her own attack support except for some of dee Jays low diff attacks

Second Favourite got to be my current Yi-shan deck

Dan

This is a difficult one for me cause id i dont like a deck even if it wins i will take it appart and i mainly go for fun, but if i had to pick one i couldn't cause it would be a toss up between 3 old school astaroth (Physically fit demented moon on a throw fell the pain) yun seong (Rare with infiltrating) and my new astaroth ( ROTH SMASH and has no staging area), now yun seong everyone will tell you was my best deck well most of them will, or they will shock me. but astaroth i just love the pure power of the guy and insain damage i could pump out. my one wish would be for them to reprint made not born, that card was freaking awesome, plus todays meta does need something to stop the high amount of damage that decks can pump out so easily ( i'm not complaining though), i just loove the reaction of some one in the miniblock tournment at uk ufs nats turn 3 i think it was, " right now thas a mid 3 for 23 damage throw" and the reply was purely a shocked "23". but any way purely for the fact that from the day he was released till the day he was cycled that i played him and loved trying to keep him a challenge for any player to play i will have to say yun seong.

Talim*** and Rolling Storm. Lots of Hops and flowing gale hooks made for some turn 1's. Oh how I miss it.

There's no contest over what my favorite deck is, and you should know, Theo: *Sagat*.

My Sagat deck was known and respected in the playgroup as I tore through my opponents with Absurd Strength, Throws and Sagat's R. It could also defend itself with Size Matters, and as a killing blow would often use Critical Timing on an opponent's attack. People claim that aggro is back with block 4, but it will never be as fast as that. I built the deck shortly after the UK Nats 07, and played it up until the character rotated.

A close second comes my **Dan** deck, which I built in an instant when Domination came out. People were confused by the fact I ran the booster Dan over his promo, but I showed them why by attaching Promo Dan on top, thus making a 6/29 character that could discard, and then draw/control/defend against his opponent. I love the aspect of "controlling myself to control the opponent", and won many a match with a Fight or Flighted DARGON PAWNCH!
