I love the Original Trilogy. It's what I grew up on. I like the Prequels and I can't wait for Episode VII. Obviously until FFG release information on how combining the old with the new works I won't be making any rash decisions. Regardless of how it does work I will still be buying all ships released regardless of era. As it stands on the information I'm seeing today (not official FFG info) I can't see me having any further interest in the tournament scene. I would probably just play casual games with extra fluffy builds. I'd be happy enough to play OT only or E7 only. I couldn't Stand seeing Vader and Palpatine flying against a T70. I know a lot of players won't mind but quite frankly it would p*** me off. In conclusion I just wish it was Sept 4th so I know where I stand.
OT v's E VII - TOURNAMENT v's CASUAL
If you care about setting fluff, the game's already utterly borked. If that's your personal line in the sand though then fair enough, you do you.
As I said in other posts while the Star Wars franchise is one of the games greatest strengths it can also be the greatest hindrances. Can you imagine a game of X-wing where Biggs got "banned" after the release of Wave 5 because they had TIE Phantoms and E-wings in there (or even Wave 2 because of A-wings and TIE Interceptors)? Some times in order to get the most of the game you sort of have to throw off those fluff restrictions because it is a game and you get to explore different possibilities such as what if Wedge blew up the first death star?
My concerns well mostly is what is going to be changed in the premier scene and what does that mean to my current collection. Is the 2nd core set I picked up so I can have extra components now just extra crap I never will play with like a dozen of stress/focus tokens? What about the new players that are getting in or thinking about getting into this game right now? Not even a year after they just bought their core set are they being told they need to buy a different core set? OR will they be two separate games and end up splitting the player base?
Yes there are BIG changes down the road, and naturally changes bring out many questions. I haven't lost any faith with FFG, not yet at least I am still going down the store to pick up wave 7. But I cant help and wonder in the back of my mind if my minatures will end up being shelved with my Warhammer stuff as people leave the game.
Like I said I won't be making any rash decisions based on what I've seen. I trust FFG will know what's going to keep us all happy and I know that that's the game they will make.
But why does that have to piss you off.
Like it was mentioned there are already pilots who are flying against each Other who are dead or werent around
Its a game, just have fun.
Think of it like marvel and their alt universe
Edited by Krynn007i do have fun. I agree I already play a lot of games which are not coherent with the time line. I just feel that with the way it looks like it's going I will be more than happy to just play casual. I think it would be good to have more ships from different eras so as more canon comes out from between E6 and E7 I can happily play more fluffy lists. I don't see it as a bad thing.
