choseing pilot skill

Is better to take high ps ship our use low ps ships.

normal i use 9 our better

Lower PS = more ships (as they are usually cheaper) but less elite skills.

Higher PS = Less ships, but more elite skills.

As with pretty much everything you've asked on here, it's up to you and what you like playing with :P

A mixture of one or two high PS aces and several low PS blockers

A mixture of one or two high PS aces and several low PS blockers

Its much more complex.

Depends on the list and goals you like to archieve.

If you go for raw firepower and suriving by brute force (i plow though your hp before you plow though mine) you really dont care about ps.

ex list: BBBBZ, Brobot to some degree.

If you want to survive by outmaneuvering enemy you want this high ps, so you can move last and dodge arcs.

ex list : decimator 2 ship lists.

Also very often you build lists around pilots ability not his ps. For example when you take chewie instead of han you take him for his tankyness and dont care about his ps cause its irrelevant for him.

Same goes with Vessery for example, when you build him you want to supplement him with ships that target locks easy and even if that means lower ps.

Another ps related topic is countering: what ps counter what? What ps on what ship i need to counter Whisper? What i need to counter Brobots? Do i need high ps to kill fathan? And that also closely relates to initiative bid, cause you may have that 9ps on your designated whisper-hunter and bam 100pts list, that he counters with 98 and whisper still cloaks before you shoot her.

Its just closely related to overall list building not just raw ps numbers.

So it really up to me i guess the freedom in this game is just so new to me

depends entirely on what you like flying

in the most simplistic analysis of the competitive setting, you stack either extreme (so either all PS 8-9, or PS 1-2) to get the most popular competitive lists

Soontir (9) + Cheri (8)

Han (9) + Corran (8)

B (2) B (2) B (2) B (2) Z (2)

Panic Attack (2, 2, 2, 2)

etc.

mid-tier pilots (PS 4-7) are generally frowned upon because they cost more than PS 2 but are still beat by PS 8+. the exception is if they have wicked abilities, ala

Dash Rendar

Palob/mux

Almost all the character Ties who aren't howlrunner

scum Kath

etc.

so really, play what you enjoy

If you really want freedom, try building a list where everyone has the same PS.

It is an underappreciated luxury to be able to change the order of activation/shooting on a whim from round to round.

It's not so good that it's worth bending over backwards to make things fit if they simply won't, but it does let you do some otherwise impossible flying tricks, and it lets you prioritize your shooting more effectively.

Why choose? Have BOTH! Low PS affords you more ships, they can be used as blockers, and control flight lanes.

High PS gives you a chance to react late in the round and fire first. My favorite such list?

Kath+Predator+Outlaw Tech+ID

2x Black Sun Enforcers+AT

So i really can run what as long as i dont plan on going to a turny

So i really can run what as long as i dont plan on going to a turny

If we are not talking about tournamets, whats the point anyway? In casual game you could pack that 2ps kwing to the limit (hello 64 points:D) and still have lots of fun.

Point was theres a right and wrong way to play (gw playerin me) and i wish i had the kwing along with a few other thing before they sold out i always miss out and end when i find them i buy all i can

It's also worth thinking about squads that have the same P.S. - For example,

Outer Rim Smuggler
Knave Squadron + R2
Prototype Pilot + Chardan X3

All pilot skill 1 - you have complete freedom over which ship to activate or fire with - while pairing Leebo, Etahn and Nera would get you an all P.S. 5 squad, with some room to play.

These kinds of squads play very differently than a squad with Mixed P.S.
