Backstory :
Not much is known about Maya, but there's much that can be guessed.

She was born on an outer rim world; likely a colony planet. Her earliest memories were as a slave cleaning temple floors on Trandosha, until she was 6 when she left. She doesn't talk about the 10 years after, but it must have been then that she learned about her abilities and the ways of the Force.

Her master must have been a poor teacher. She shows little understanding of the Jedi code, and how to properly wield a lightsaber. However, it's clear that she is strong in the Force and was taught how to control her abilities and focus them, though she sometimes shows a lack of restraint in this regard.

Not long ago, she parted ways with her master. It was then that she was found on a remote jungle planet, severely injured and her escape pod in ruins. When Kovin found her, she was delirious. Her last words before losing consciousness was a prediction. She spoke of several points of light in the growing night. These lights would quell the darkness and deliver the morning.

Days or weeks later, she woke in relatively good health; her injuries having been treated. Because of this, she trusts Kovin. Shortly after, the Force had granted her another vision. That day, she joined Kovin on one of his scouting trips. This time it was she who led him. Right to the first of their new allies.

Personality : Maya is pretty closed off and keeps to herself. She's slow to trust, but she cares deeply for those she opens up to. This becomes problematic when her loved ones develop similar bonds to others. Dark thoughts often feed on her anger and jealousy.

Her teachings focused little on restraint and self-discipline beyond controlling her abilities. On a few occasions she has made her companions feel a bit uncomfortable at her lack of restraint, but most of the time, she was ignorant of why it was wrong in what she did. Clearly, she still has some growing to do.

Questions 3
What does Maya love: Maya loves those she is comfortable enough to open her heart to. It's a rare gift that she does not give freely.

What does Maya Hate: Maya hates herself to some extent. But more importantly, she hates the Sith for what they've done to her.

Why is Maya with the party: Maya is initially there because she owes Kovin her life. But she also sees what the group is trying to accomplish and sees a chance to redeem herself.

Nice background. I like it. You done a good job here. So the question is when does play start?

Did I miss revanchist7's character? I thought I was waiting on a finished character from him.

I will take Duty: Personnel, I think it fits my character.

:blink:

Shame on me for not writing stuff down. I remember now. Lol.

Alright, so that's two for Duty. 20 apiece. Everything looks like it's good except Firan Cadera's Duty, which just needs to be brought down to a total of 20.

Here is the roll for "pocket money", by the way.

"Pocket money" = 81 credits

All done. Background has been added to both Jonas' character sheet in the Dramatis Personae thread, as well as the one in SWSheets.

Thanks for that FCastor, I was waiting to see your background to add another piece of flavour text. This one's a bit more personal:

The Prophecy of the Six

When night falls on the galaxy, the Six shall come together:

The first shall seek to protect, yet he cannot protect them all;

The second shall be true to his teacher, yet find his loyalty tested worst of all;

The third shall be a great warrior, yet he shall not fight;

The fourth shall seek vengeance, yet vengeance shall be his undoing;

The fifth shall flee her power, yet her power shall be greatest of all;

And the last shall break his chains, yet still he shall be bound;

Yet together, they may yet bring back the light

- From The Last Prophecies of Krynda Draay

Ooooooh.

What about that last line:

"Their path is dark, yet together, they may bring back the light."

When I'm good I very good. No pressure awayputurwpn but I do expect a certain amount of saving the galaxy to take place.

A veteran with vengeance in his heart...a warrior denied his potential...a peacekeeper forced to make war...a seer trapped by her power...a guardian burdened with guilt...and an explorer bound by the chains of the past...they will come together under the Shadows of the Future...

I'm quite excited. Does it show?

I'm quite excited. Does it show?

I was getting worried about the lack of enthusiasm around here...

:P

Well I'm excited. Quite ridiculously so. I've been compulsively checking the forums every fifteen minutes for the past three days in case I miss something!

Well I'm excited. Quite ridiculously so. I've been compulsively checking the forums every fifteen minutes for the past three days in case I miss something!

I'll have an update up this evening...just working on the opening crawl now. If all goes as planned, we adventure tonight!

If not, then expect something tomorrow. At dawn. Look to the east.

Can I just ask how this works in terms of play order? Will there be an order in which we all comment? Or do we simply post something as and when we are online?

I'm excited..... let's roll!

Well, five members have already posted their characters in the Dramatis Personae thread, so it looks like we're just about ready to go.

Can I just ask how this works in terms of play order? Will there be an order in which we all comment? Or do we simply post something as and when we are online?

Trying to post in some sort of order makes things unnecessarily complicated and can slow the game down something fierce, especially considering the fact that we are not always online and there may even be different time zones to consider. Or at least this has been my experience so far.

The way I have played PbPs so far, players generally post whenever they can or want or have something to say/do/reply to/react to. The thing with PbPs is that, in my opinion and experience, they are as much games as they are stories. Of course, when there is combat and thus initiative, then you may have a more structured order if the GM so wishes though I have not found it to be absolutely necessary.

Just for reference, in the games I have been in so far, the IC posts go something like so:

"You seem like a nice enough fellow," Bob says to Jack, having taken the time to hear him out. 'Not terribly bright though,' he thinks to himself as he moves to get a cup of coffee.

As for the OOC text in an IC post, we would write it in some color, say light blue, so that it is clear that this is not the character talking, but the player.

Though it does not have to be exactly like that, I find I really like the present tense as basically you are describing what the character is thinking and saying and doing now. As for the bold and italic, they do sacrifice uniformity, but I have found that they catch your eye and help differentiate between action and description (regular), speech (bold) and thought (italic).

But as I said, this has been my experience so far. It is up to the GM to decide such things.

You know, I just noticed there is not one among us who can do the Jedi mind trick.

Jump over that chasm over there? Sure.

Sense that something is wrong? Certainly.

Move that X-Wing? Well, maybe, with a bit of practice.

Hold aloft that poor dude? See into some foggy future? Yes and yes.

But are these the droids you are looking for? Why, yes, yes they are.

Uhhhhh it's on my list of things to learn?

Yeah, same here actually along with Move. At some point. Eventually.

Thanks for clarifying the etiquette on turn-taking. By the way you were right on time zones - you're in Greece, I'm in the UK and the others are in America and spread across a wide area (I think the furthest over is in Washington State) so yeah. This may get complicated.

I was wondering about that. Well I'll mostly be on from 5-12 PM CST.

Hmm... Here, let me link a PbP as an example.

Click me.

The campaign is Way of the Wicked. It uses Pathfinder rules and the PCs are villains actually, but other than that it is a good example of a pretty good PbP. It has been going for a year now, despite losing the original GM.

You may notice that not everyone posts with the same frequency or verbosity, at least not all the time. You may also note that the hours the various players post are all over the place more or less, but that is not much of a problem, if at all, since this is a forum game and not a real time one. All it takes is just a little patience and a bit of creativity, the latter of which I can see as being in abundance here. :)
