Shadows of the Future [Force and Destiny] OOC

Oh right, missed that!

By the way, I've given Kovin a second motivation. I've edited it into his profile but I thought I'd note it here. Kovin has the motivation "Free the Oppressed". He has seen the worst face of the galaxy in his time as a slave, and wants all beings to be free and equal. However, if he sees people downtrodden by anyone, be it an employer or a ruler, he will challenge this if necessary.

It's fairly easy to think of reasons why the Jedi characters would work together, but our Mandalorian member may require a bit more thought to integrate. In the novel Revan, it is mentioned that the leader of the Mandalorians has a special helmet as a badge of office, and after Revan defeated the last one he hid the helmet to keep the Mandalorian clans from uniting. (He later gives Canderous the helmet before the events of KOTOR 2 so he can rally his people to help fight the Sith Empire.) In this alternate universe, Revan may not have bothered giving the helmet back because he may have decided doing so was more risk than it was worth, seeing as he now has the resources of the former Republic to draw upon. If Revanchist 7's character is angry and disillusioned about the fragmentation of the clans thanks to Revan, he might make common cause with underground Jedi who also oppose the Sith.

Largely this, and the death of my character's family in the war.

Ok I'm really liking this background. I like how we've each got a different outlook on things. We've got the vengeful Mandalorian who's seen it all and wants payback, the diplomat who'd rather be a warrior, the young explorer who broke free of slavery and now has a whole galaxy to see, the warrior with a great legacy to live up to and the need to restore the Jedi, and that's not even the whole party or our final backgrounds. But I'm wondering which war your character's family died in? If it was the Jedi Civil War then that could create an interesting plot line following his need for vengeance on the Sith. If it was the Mandalorian Wars though, then they could instead have been killed at the hands of the Jedi, leading to an interesting inter-party conflict. The plot's there to be developed!

As for profile pictures, funnily enough, almost all of them are pretty accurate considering the characters and who plays them (Korro Zal has a Zabrak picture and a Zabrak character, kaosoe will be playing a Mystic (Seer) and has a bearded wise-looking Kenobi, Silver Crane has an armored avatar pic and will be playing a Guardian and I have a profile pic with a guy wielding a lightsaber -even though the guy has a green lightsaber and my character has a blue one- and I will be playing a Warrior). Though not entirely accurate in regard to how each of us is picturing their character (and we can always add a description to our finalized character sheet for reference), the avatar pictures are at the very least fitting.

I'll probably be breaking the mold. I leaning towards a young female Togruta.

As a young Togruta male, well this is awkward!

Even more so since I was consider her emotional strength and weakness being Love/Jealousy, but that's subject to change.

I'm still working through a few details of her background. Once I most of it fleshed out, I'll reveal it.

I will admit that from a story and roleplaying perspective, it could prove to be quite interesting.

In the third (characters) thread, we should put up our full bios as well as our character sheets.

Incidentally, which online character sheet are we using?

Hmm? Online character sheets? I would like to hear more about this.

I was mostly thinking of simply putting up a post in the characters thread with the character information in a sort of character sheet format. Since posts are editable, it should then be a simple matter to change it whenever needed depending on XP and gear gained through the story. And so as not to lose track of the thread, I had proposed that the opening post of each thread (IC, OOC, Dramatis Personae) could include the links to the other two, thus making it easy to find them.

It was the mandalorian wars, and I took the Internal Security Duty to represent that although I have a basic level of trust with you guys, I'm also aware you could change your title to Sith at any moment, so I'm keeping a lookout for that.

Oh I thought we were doing something involving form-fillable character sheets. But that's probably easier (I can never get those things to work). Good plan.

I like the plan Revanchist. Nothing says 'galaxy-saving heroes' like a group where one of them has an array of heavy weapons and a conviction the others might go over to the Dark Side!

I used swsheets per somebody's suggestion in another thread.

I dropped my third spec as I was feeling spread too thin. I think I'm the only player with Duty and Obligation but if anyone else does speak up so we can get those starting values balanced.

A question: Would a concealment holster work with a lightsaber? I am thinking no, as it says it is for holdout blasters and light blaster pistols only, but I thought to ask anyway. I will be investing in a shadowsheath attachment at some point, but a concealment holster makes for an adequate substitute until I do so.

Nevermind the question. No need to complicate things. :)

Regarding Lightsaber Colors: Here is the information I imparted to Silver Crane when asked...

Green and blue are standard, but other colors aren't unheard of. The only thing I will stand firm on is no black blades :)

I am of the opinion that, when the Force user attunes the kyber crystal to himself, his personality and how he views the Force can have a factor in determining its color. So if you want something besides green or blue, ask & let me know why!

Regarding Character Sheets:

You are free to use whichever medium you prefer, if you like a digital character sheet. I only ask that you keep your character up-to-date and accessible, with a bio & full stat block in the upcoming Dramatis Personae thread. I personally use OggDude's generator and then save the sheet to a PDF in my Dropbox folder.

But I'm loving swsheets!!

So my character concept has him as a padawan on Corellia being trained by the Green Jedi. I was planning on make him part of the Halcyon line. Anyways when Revan's Inquisitors/Assassins came to Corellia his master told him to flee. From there he would have bounced around a bit, spending a period on Lorrd before deciding he could no longer hide and seeking out a means of restoring the Jedi (enter Korro's character perhaps?)

Given that we're going around the galaxy collecting allies for a great battle against evil (Commander Shepard style - though you'll never be better than Commander Shepard) would the ally you bring to the table be the Green Jedi. We've heard that the Republic still exists but in a very reduced capacity (I see it more as the Galactic Benign Military Dictatorship than the Galactic Republic) might Corellia be one of the fortress worlds that are still holding out? The Green Jedi could be just protecting Corellia until we arrive to persuade them otherwise.

I think that if each of us brings one lot of support to the table it could allow a nice episodic focus on each character.

Realistically, the Republic exists only in the hearts of the loyalists. The Republic capitulated to Revan unconditionally, Coruscant was surrendered, and the Senate was disbanded.

But Corellia is a different animal! Revan would be leaning on Corellia to see how long it would take them to break, but as of this date in-game, Corellia remains proudly independent. They might well be a haven for Republic loyalists.

I welcome player input into the design of this Alternate Universe. Feel free to add information using your bio, Motivations, Obligations. If it's relevant to your character, I would encourage you to make it up yourself! I want this to be a cooperatively designed game world, not something that is my vision only and that y'all have to get on board with.

KOVIN DAUR - TOGRUTA SEEKER

...

ZELT - JUVENILE TUSK CAT

Brawn: 4 Agility: 4 Intellect: 1 Cunning: 3 Willpower: 1 Presence: 3

Soak: 4

Wound Threshold: 9

Defence: 1/1

SKILLS

Brawl 2

Coordination 2

Perception 2

Vigilance 2

TALENTS

Adversary 1

ABILITIES

Leap (add 2 Boost to all Athletics checks made to jump)

Silhouette 1

EQUIPMENT

Tusks and claws (Brawl; Damage 3; Critical 2; Range (Engaged); Pierce 2

Zelt's profile is here for ease of reference. In the book he's technically a Rival but I like the little guy so I was wondering if he could be given a strain threshold and made an Adversary? Also, when do we pick gear? On a serious note, is my character any use to the group? I'm not sure how good he'd be but I like him and that's what counts.

Yeah, everything looks good, but let's just keep Zelt at Rival status for now. Nemesis level opens up the possibility of strain thresholds and extra maneuvers and stuff, and I like the lack of complications that Rivals bring to the table. Don't worry...if he gets gunned down by stun damage or something like that, he won't die ;)

Away, did you receive the message I sent. It appeared to go out correctly. I had a few questions I tossed your way.

Oh thanks for that. I'm glad you won't kill him off. Think of him as the group's loveable pet dog. Which would claw your eyes out at my command.

Away, did you receive the message I sent. It appeared to go out correctly. I had a few questions I tossed your way.

Wierd! I could have sworn I replied. But no reply was there. My other one was more comprehensive, so please forgive the brevity of the one I just sent :)

I might rework some of my backstory a bit in light of this to open up some plot options later on in light of this. Nothing major, just details.

Cool! Keep in mind that, even though they're independent, doesn't mean they wanna go making trouble with the Sith. So they aren't really a "center for resistance," since that would be swiftly crushed, but rather a strong-willed system that knows how to get along with the current government without actually throwing in with them.

Right, that fits with the changes I was gonna make.

Are we keeping the Green Jedi around? They could be bottled up, or have gone underground to protect the planet.

Any Jedi on Corellia would have either joined the Sith, gone into hiding/exile, or gone underground. They wouldn't be practicing "openly."

Yeah, and my character got tired of lying low and decided to be proactive and left to find a means of resisting.

Edited by Silver Crane

Yep that fits into a cool idea I had. I'll message the GM about it when I get a chance.

And my character sheet: http://swsheets.com/c/3cxraquy7-seifer-halcyon

Background: Born to a Corellian Jedi family, Seifer was apprenticed to his uncle, Tobin Halcyon. Seifer exhibited the traditional flaw associated with the Halcyon line, notably he was unable to use telekinesis. He had an affinity for tinkering with machines and was also a talented user of Sense.

Seifer was forced by his uncle to flee when they were attacked by Darth Revan’s Sith Assassins while off Corellia. Seifer was able to meet make his way back to Corellia and went underground with a group of several Green Jedi. Seifer continued his training and began to focus himself on mastering Soresu noting his uncle’s use of Ataru lacked the defensive tools to survive against the Sith.

Upon reaching Knighthood, Seifer left the what remained of the dwindling group of Green Jedi that he had been hiding with as they refused to take action to oppose the Sith openly. Seifer drifted from world to world over the next few years, doing what he could to help the people and oppose the Sith. Eventually he was able find like minded individuals who sought to oppose the Sith.

During his travels, he built himself a lightsaber with a curved hilt. While curved hilts are generally favored by Makashi practitioners, Seifer’s hilt was longer and curved more gently to allow for a two-handed grip when necessary, and that was balanced in a way that allowed it be better utilized during the rapid, defensive, blade work that Soresu demands. At the sabers heart is a Lorrdian crystal, obtained while Seifer was on Lorrd, which created a blade the glowed very light blue.

Appearance: 1.8 meters tall. Seifer wears his brown hair tied back, often with a green or black band. He often wears green Jedi Robes or a green jumpsuit of the type favored by mechanics and pilots as a way of paying homage to his roots with the Green Jedi. Age: 28

Okay. I think I'm well settled on the Mystic Seer. I wish I knew a bit more about the premise to really flesh her out, but I have enough to work with.

I'll try and write a backstory before I turn in, but I'll let everyone know what I'm working with. At first, I wanted to tie her into another character's backstory to tie her into the rest of the party, but I think it will be more interesting if I held off.

I'm not sure what planet we will start on, but I think Away said it would be a jungle planet and we kind of already know one another. So I think it would make sense if she was there first. As the others joined up with her, or found said location and they would ask her why she was there, she would say she was waiting for you. I intend to play her as kind of cryptic and misunderstood, but also nice, if a bit naive. Although, I sometimes don't get a good feel for a character until I've played them a while, so we'll see how that goes. She'll be young, but not annoyingly young. Probably around 16.

Most that will be known of her is that she was once a slave, much like Kovin. But she doesn't speak much about it.

Sorry for the vague description, but I like to keep elements of my characters backstory a surprise and let some of them unfold through roleplay.
