Yes, and you suppose correctly!
Shadows of the Future [Force and Destiny] OOC
At what range would Maya be able to hear Kovin shouting?
We'll say Long range...so you could shout on your next turn and hear each other's voices, enough to recognize the shouter.
Is there a more defensible location I can move to? Some place where I could limit the birds ability to get at me?
You can make an Average Survival check if you like! Success will grant you Melee Defense 2, and an extra point of defense per every two Successes after that.
Xan looks for a more defensible position: (I assume this is upgraded once)
Survival : 2eA+1eD+1eC 0 successes, 1 threat
Finding none, he continues to assume a defensive stance and backs up--perhaps the creatures are territorial.
Suurrre, I'll spend a DS Destiny Point on the check
But it looks like your dice are messed up. Don't you have a rank in Survival? Double check your sheet, and reroll your positive dice if necessary.
Sooo...?
Everybody else go ahead and take your turn
Also let me know if you have any questions. This is obviously not your "normal" combat encounter, if there is such a thing.
Korro Zal, I'll give you 24 hours to confirm your dice pool, or just let the turn stand as is.
Right...Zabrak bonus...
Who hasn't gone yet?
Apologies, I've had a monumentally busy several days and totally missed Korro Zal's post. Finally got heating in our house, and am still fighting a basement flooding situation. Head colds and a case of food poisoning after a big memorial service event were also in the mix
Oh, life.
For Xan's Triumph, I'll suggest that he has cover similar to Kovin, allowing him refuge from the bird's beaks and talons. And it's my turn. I'll get those checks up this afternoon.
No worries. Real life, ultimately gets in the way. Hope everything's better now. But if you feel like posting in TOS then don't let me stop you...
I assume awayputurwpn would want some input into how I could use my triumph, given the oddness of this situation. What does Xan see that could constitute a Triumph rolled on his Survival check to find a defensible position?
You tell me! A tangle of roots, a large hedge, the rusted hulk of an ancient wheeled or hover vehicle, a pool of water to dive into—it's your Triumph
Could Kovin take a Discipline check to recover strain and ward against having the birds target him like that again?
Sorry everyone, my schedule is crazy at the moment and keeping me from regularly posting. It will be like this at least until the weekend, but these enemy rolls are next on my list to adjudicate. Again, my apologies.
Could Kovin take a Discipline check to recover strain and ward against having the birds target him like that again?
Yes, on your next turn, you can definitely do that. I'll give you the Difficulty at the top of the round.
Cool, thanks. Just so long as some progress happens sometime.
Any ideas for the Advantage?
How about noticing something important? These birds are tricksy things. Maybe there's something more to them.
Yes, on your next turn, you can definitely do that. I'll give you the Difficulty at the top of the round.
So what's the difficulty? I've got a post all lined up and raring to go...

You can make an Average Discipline check, upgrade the Difficulty once (I'm spending a Dark Side Destiny Point) and give yourself a Boost die for "knowing what's up." And include a Setback die due to the number of avians.

Discipline check : 3eA+1eB+1eC+1eD+1eS 3 successes, 1 threat
Can I spend my Successes to block out the birds entirely, or only to recover strain?
Since the Discipline check was to Recover strain, then that is what the Success will do (1:1 ratio). For the threat, Kovin is getting a bit scared of these birds. Add a Setback to your next check dealing with them.
