Alright I'm going offline now. If I do post it'll be on mobile and thus without formatting, so apologies if there's confusion. Carry on without me, see you all on Sunday.
Shadows of the Future [Force and Destiny] OOC
Any assistance maneuver
Cool, so it is available specifically in structured play (but not when performing Skilled/Unskilled Assistance). See "Other Types of Check > Assisted Checks > Assistance and Timing" in Chapter I, and "Maneuvers > Types of Maneuvers > Assist" in Chapter VI, for reference.
This makes your maneuvers, essentially, double-powered. You should be looking for any excuse to use this in combat.
(Sorry for not responding earlier to the question; I only just saw it for some reason a little bit ago)
The exact quote is 'the assist maneuver' so it may only apply if providing assistance to a skill check
To clarify, the benefits are for when you are performing the assist maneuver , which is specifically done in structured play (not for Skilled/Unskilled Assistance). This is different from the Drall's special ability, which adds a Boost die when providing Skilled Assistance (so only applicable in narrative play, not in combat).
By the way, with regards to earning and spending experience, do our characters need training? If Kovin wants to learn Shien, does he need us to teach him? Can we even do that since none of us is a Shien stylist?

It'll all work out, I'm sure...
There should be some flavor behind how you learn stuff, especially Force powers, but (to some degree) there's always room for self-taught PCs! However, in this case, it should all work out just fine for...reasons.
I appreciate the desire to stay reasonably thematic and appropriate, though. So thank you! Keep it up.
Well, I established in my background stories that Xan knows the rudiments of all styles save Makashi, so I can teach him basic Shien, I suppose. By the time he has enough experience to buy advanced techniques, we should be back on Alderaan.
Note to self: In future background stories, establish that there is a Shien master on Alderaan.
I'd be wary of establishing powerful masters in the galaxy since if there was a ready supply of lightsaber masters the Sith didn't do a great job of killing all the Jedi. Perhaps a selection of holocrons might work better. Also, for purely selfish reasons, we probably don't want people more powerful than us who can take all the rewards of saving the Galaxy. That's our job
I actually second that.
Also, ColonelCommissar, your OOC speech in the IC thread has gone from
blue
to
orange
to
red
. Is this a sign of things to come? Are you going Dark Side on us? Should we start lopping off your appendages?
Oh sorry I think I posted just after posting IC in my other games. I need to pay attention more!
Sorry for the confusion IC, guys. Let me know if there's anything else the rest of you would like to do before turning in for the night.
So... given the fact that the Flesh Raiders have established themselves as hostile, would I receive Conflict for stealing provisions from one? What if I have to kill him to get it?
Being skilled at Shien doesn't make one a "Master"--Xan's pretty good at Niman, but he's no Jedi Master. Furthermore, the galaxy's a big enough place that a few skilled Jedi on Alderaan are hardly going to steal our thunder, or make much of a difference against the thousands of Sith out there. I've already established a few in my stories.
So... given the fact that the Flesh Raiders have established themselves as hostile, would I receive Conflict for stealing provisions from one? What if I have to kill him to get it?
You would receive conflict for initiating hostilities to get at his provisions (at least 2-4, depending on how you go about things and depending on who does the attacking), which is of course the surest, safest (for you) and most direct route to getting food for your party.
Edited by awayputurwpnAnd I assume telling him, "Give me your food or die," counts as initiating hostilities, correct?
What if I just trick him and steal it?
What did you have in mind?
Using the Force to pull it away from him, hoping that the supernatural occurrence would make him run away.
Edited by Korro ZalInteresting! Since your control of telekinesis is still fairly tenuous, it'll be a Hard Discipline check, with a Boost for him being unaware and two Setbacks for the terrible weather.
I'll also need a skill check from Firan, telling us how he's contributing to the deception. Be creative!
Okay, I'll wait for Firan's post to see what he wants to do.
What are the rest of you doing (Kovin, Maya, Seifer, Jonas)?
I'm not sure. Are we back at camp? I have other IC questions but if it would be better to have the full group I can wait. Or could I take a Survival check to forage for supplies?
Well, Seifer's wilderness skills suck I reckon he's in camp, meditating, prolly considering taking a resilience check to go without food.

You can absolutely make a separate survival check to forage. It will be Average Difficulty, upgraded once with a Destiny Point, with 2 setbacks for the rainstorm. Success will feed one person, with more success feeding more people
I couldn't think of anything to do with the raider tbh. I feel like at some point I need to do something that takes advantage of my jet pack though. I'm imagining while we're on Tython the fuel will be pretty precious.
Think of it this way. FiranFiran is getting hungry and tired. He's been hunting to no avail. He sees an enemy, who is unaware of him, walking alone in a remote location with provisions that could benefit his allies. What does Firan do?
If I take a Resiliance check to allow someone else to eat today, what are we looking at for difficulty and am I gonna need to deal with the setback dice? I reckon I can hold out.
Right now it's just an Easy Resilience check. But it will be getting progressively harder if food is delayed.
