Two words: Tallon Roll
Two words: Power Creep.
So yes, they're forcing our hand to stay relevant with the new deck, not to mention the insanity of those dials/upgrades. I strongly STRONGLY hate that. But if that's how it's gonna be...
Power creep? Naw. Everything I've seen would be over priced if not for some neat new tricks. I'm not convinced that they aren't still overpriced, but I think they have closed the gap a tiny bit.
I'm wired now.
Why only 1 copy. I need more than 1 copy.
Did I mention I'm wired now.
I think I prefer the bait-bot.

this is a concern I share
I actually think Poe is going to be instantly competitive (dat ability + shield regen droid + dem thrusters = coming for your turrets!)
everyone else, though? I honestly have no idea. My love of A-wings demands I find an amazing use for Tie/fos, but apart from Mr. 2-roll none of them strike me as particularly inspiring (apart from the dead sexy dial, ofc)

Just noticed it was an EPT, I'm so excited you don't even know.

you know what's bull, though?
Lorrir doesn't have an ept
neither do R3-A2 y-wings...

There... are... FOUR... LIGHTS!!!
Huh?
Wrong universe Jean-Luc Picard.
The king is dead. Long live the King.
Dude, no doubt! **** FFG for letting the meta stagnate but how dare they shake things up! Oh, and now I 'have' to go buy more sweet Star Wars toys, UNACCEPTABLE!!! (Actually this is the best part 'cause I can justify buying new ships to my girlfriend: "But baby, I can't be competitive without the new stuff, and you KNOW how poopy I am when I get tabled in a tournament match!")
Chillax, bros, change is part of life but it's still gonna be a fun game with cool models.
I have no idea where people are finding this stuff.... I search and find nothing but old news. Lol.

Man, can people PLEASE stop saying this is power creep. There is way too much "OMG IT'S WAY BETTER theN THE OLD XWING FEEL THE CREEEEEEEEEEP." going on.
Compare it to the B-wing, or Y-wing, or another ship that has generics that have been competitive, within, um, at LEAST the past 3 waves please.
People will look for any reason to scream "The SKY IS FALLING", I swear. Has anyone stopped to think that FFG might be doing us a favor here? How annoying has it been to buy two of the same product when first getting into the game? As long as they get the old core set up to date (which I can't imagine a scenario where they don't), you will get 4 unique ships to begin the game with instead of 2.
And FFG is aware the T-65 x-wing is lacking, and it will be revisited in time. Be patient. Find the interview that was done at Gencon with Alex Davey if you don't believe me.
If this game has power creep, it creeps ALL of its ships. Hence why the Tie adv and A-wing have both seen "fixes". Expect it for the T-65 X-wing, Defender, and generic E-wing as well. Again, be patient.

Yeah, an A-wing with Barrel Roll instead of Boost and can take the new upgrade. Which doesn't look game breaking. Can't take ATs or carry a Procket. You do get Segnors but lose a shield for Hull. Also, you don't get the green 4 and 5.
Now the T-70 on the other hand, looks like what the E-wing should have been. An X-wing on steroids.
That's a great comparison of the A-wing, which, imo is still a better ship with the refit, especially since they can take autothrusters. Generic A-wings aren't tearing up the meta, so why would these TIEs?
The ship that might be worthy of comparison to the T-70 is the star viper. The T-70 is obviously more resilient (1 more health overall and behind more shields but one less agility), but upgrade slots and choice of action favor the star viper and both dials are of similar value, imo, with unique moves, etc.. Yet, we never see a generic star viper and rarely see a unique in competitive play, so I feel like that 24 points is going to be about right for the T-70.

THANK YOU AlexW. Someone who knows how to use LOGIC when analyzing ships they have never seen placed on a board.
Edited by KdubbI am laughing and laughing at that damage deck. What was the #1 demand for a new damage deck? That all more upgrades could be affected. So what do the do? NO UPGRADES ARE AFFECTED. Let the cries for a third deck begin.
Otherwise, very interesting stuff. Tallon Roll is much more interesting than a S-loop with a turn template.

That's much better, easier to read.
I think the idea of a Weapon Boost Thingy Upgrade (or whatever the Hell that is) is great! ... I was way off. Did anyone speculate correctly for the mystery icon? Sorry if that was already discussed- just saying I like it.
i.t.o strict "jousting value" these new ships aren't very good (the Tie/fo is priced exactly as the refit A-wing--only slightly better PS on b])
Fortunately, "jousting values" are barely worth a grain of salt when the ships are being used to play a game.

The problem with Munitions Failure is that it's typically either devastating or pointless against any given ship, with very little middle ground. A deck that increased the frequency of Munitions-Failure-type cards (look! here's one for systems; too bad it's on a Y-wing. ooh, and next turn I'll fry the astromech slot on your Decimator) would be a disaster.

Clearly. But, that hasn't changed that those types of cards are what the biggest proponents of a new damage deck were wanting. The new deck is interesting, but I'm fine with my opponent has either the old or new deck.

I took two generic starvipers to the Chicago regionals and got 21st. Two games I had to close the match with one starviper.

Really? Because last time I looked at MajorJuggler's Math Wing, it seemed to show that ships with better jousting values tended to be the ships seen most in tournaments...
Also... I Can't wait to see his math on these ships!

I think the new deck will make for more devastating rounds of combat, possibly making games take less time. Major Explosion into a Direct Hit is 3 Hull damage off a single Crit. Also, your Soontir/Whisper won't have to worry about their Pilot Ability and Elite Talents being ignored ever again. I like this new Damage Deck.
EDIT
Just re-read the new Blinded Pilot. I like this change.

Wait, is injured pilot really not in the new deck???
That makes me sad. One of the few crits that really hit hard...
