Just looking to see what your favorite starship is and why. Anything from "I like the cargo space" to "There's enough headroom for a wookie".
In the alternative: If you have a starship that you just can't stand, I'd like to know about that too.

Silhouette 3: HWK-290, best **** star fighter in the game. Completely customizable. Can hold a small drop team or party. Rare and expensive, but ooh so worth it.
Silhouette 4: ILH-KK Citadel-Class Civilian Cruiser. Has everything a group of adventures could ask for. Plenty of cargo room, and top of its class in weapons (ion, lasers, missiles, and a tractor beam), armor and trauma/strain. A little on the high side for price (200K) but you get what you pay for. And it is worth it.
Silhouette 5: Gozanti Armed Transport. For an entry to capital ships, it does not get much better than this. Decent hard points makes it pretty customizable, armed to the teeth and some of the highest trauma/strain in its weight class. Oh, and tons of cargo space. It only being 200K is just icing on the cake.
I like the YT-2400, myself. IMO, it has better default weapons than the YT-1300, decent enough cargo, and better handling.
If you can find/get one, the HWK-1000 is awesome, with much greater speed (the only Speed 5 Silhouette 4 vehicle in the game), better handling, and doesn’t lose much in the other areas.
The YT-1760 is nice in that it is 4/4/+1 but only costs 80k credits, and has five available hard points, whereas the other 4/4/+1 ships are the Baudo-class and Luxurious-class yachts, both of which cost 200k or more.
If a Speed 3 Silhouette 4 vehicle is okay and you want something that can really dish out the damage, it’s hard to beat the YV-929, with the 4R3 Light Assault Transport and the ILH-KK Citadel-class Light Freighter close behind.
The only thing in that class which is more heavily armed than the YV-929 is the Imperial Customs Frigate.
In Silhouette 5, you’ve got some heavy-duty Corvettes to be concerned about, so I’m not sure I’d go up to that size.
Unless what you want is a heavy-duty Corvette, in which case I’d take the DP-20 Gunship or the Marauder hands-down, followed by the CR-90 or CR-92a. The DP-20 is faster and more heavily armed, but also more military and therefore potentially more likely to get you into trouble with the Imperials. The CR-90 and CR-92a aren’t as heavily armed, but they do have lots of cargo space.
The Lancer-class frigate is heavily armed, but slow.
The Ubrikkian Industries Modified Minstrel-Class Space Yacht is nice in that it has good cargo capacity and good weaponry, as well as being decently fast for a Silhouette 5 ship. It’s not a Corvette, but in many ways it might be better than the CR-90 or CR-92a.
Of course, the Wayfarer is the only Silhouette 5 ship that is officially within the normal PC price range of 120k credits.
So, I think it all depends on what you’re looking for, and what your options are.
Serenity
but I like the Wayfarer a lot, especially when it gets the Hanger mod so some of the party can have snub fighters. It can still fit enough cargo for smuggling, there's a gun for a gunner, there's stuff for techs to do, you can even fit it out with a luxury personal quarters for a bit of comfort for the crew.
As far as Star Wars lore goes, my favorite ship is Slave I. As far as game ships go, my favorite is probably the Koensayr ILH-KK Citadel Class "Civilian Cruiser." It makes for awkward landings, since it lands on its wings, and doesn't have a true escape pod. However, mechanically, it's only weak point "off the shelf" is its speed of three. Given the funds, I would probably upgrade it some, and it has 4 hardpoints and several weapons placements to do that with. It also can carry two starfighters. It's an okay vessel for a small group, but it's the perfect vessel for a large one.
Close tie between the Decimator, the YV-929, and the CR-90.
Reasonable player ship, 2400. Gozanti is awesome, though. I'm also partial to the Ghtroc 720. It's a beast.
For the group can't beat the Ghtroc 720 looks cool, fluffy to have sorta freighter concept.
Really want to work in Y-wings too though but space combat seems so DEADLY..

My group acquired a modified Ghtroc 720 that was being used by Mercenaries as an assault transport. I added an extra laser cannon on her and increased her damage reduction; she flies like an AT-AT, but her armor is just as impervious.
Space combat *IS* deadly. It was fun the first time we had an encounter in space with starfighters and freighters tangling it up in the "Big Show". Everyone at the table was fairly cocky, as they had handled themselves on the ground with exceptional combat prowess, so they thought shooting some clunky out dated fighters that had given chase once they left the planet would be easy. Their faces all turned ash white by about the third round, honestly at that point I hadn't any idea how dangerous space combat was either.
Now a days I run starfighters as minion groups. This has reduced the difficulty and the immediate danger of exploding into fine particulate matter as the result of a few lucky laser blasts, but kept up the fun factor since now my group tends to engage more TIE's or what have you at once, making the experience more fun and cinematic.
FFG created :Kossak
EU/Legends: ShaShore
Canon: Nebulon-B
Pretty much every family member I know of who was ever in a navy served on a frigate at some point, the two main ships of my favorite Age of Sail novel which I first read when I was 6 were Frigates, the first ship I ever commanded in a tabletop RPG was a Nebulon-B, and the first fleet I ever commanded in a tabletop war game was 3 frigates and an escort carrier. So I've had a massive soft spot for frigates almost as long as I can remember.
X-70B Phantom. Or if you want something more canonical, Executor-class Star Destroyer.
What can I say? The Imps came up with some spiffy-looking ship designs.
My heart belongs to the TIE Avenger from the old TIE Fighter CD-ROM game. I love that thing...
In the sil 3 range, I think it's hard to go wrong with the R-41 Starchaser, as well. That thing has a pretty tasty and flexible weapon load out.
When it comes to transports, I gotta say, I like traveling in style. The Baudo is a thing of beauty, and one of the few non CEC ships I would love to ride around in. I am also a big believer in the YT-2000.
X-wing. Because Star Wars.

1) Yup. It's a sexy ship.
2) I agree. This is perhaps the best ship from my point of view, simply for potential if nothing else
3) Kind of a derail question, sorry, but would you let Baudo-class and Luxurious-class yachts come with luxury passenger compartments (Desperate Allies)? To make up for the cost?

I don't have a copy of desperate allies in my group yet, but as it is a luxury yacht, I would probably say yes, but I'm saying yes in the blind here... but Yes is a definite possibility. My players recently... appropriated a Baudo off a slaver, and while the players liked the look of it, I believe the conversation went something like this...
Players: It has less guns and lacks some of the after market mods of our YT-1300, why should we switch?
Me: Well, it doesn't scream "smuggler" for one, so your are likely to get "pulled over" less, and you don't have to share bunks, and...
Players: SOLD!

Yeah, well... The fluff (I know, fluff doesn't matter) of the Baudo says it's extremely bloody exclusive. Something that one can't find readily on the open market and has to be custom constructed by one guy's company. It's like one of those signature Italian sports cars. The only way to buy one is to know someone who already has one and referrs you.
Saying the yt 1300 screams smuggler is misleading, sure smugglers do like them but it's the most popular light freighter in the galaxy, its not practical to stop everyone using them not would it make sense. But the baudo? That thing screams I have lots and lots of credits as loudly as it can through a megaphone through another megaphone. Not exactly something I'd wanna be flying around in the outer rim.
I like the E-9 Explorer and the Ghtroc 720. I want to like the Citadel, but the lack of firing arcs on the turrets bugs me even if it rarely comes up in this game. I also like the Lambda shuttle more than I should.

I've always figured that the lack of firing arcs on the Citadel was misprint. It makes no sense for them to be fixed forward. That's not a turret. It seems reasonable to grant the port and starboard turrets (Fwd, Port, Aft) and (Fwd, Stbd, Aft) firing arcs respectively.
Edit: I do like both the E-9 and the Ghtroc 720. The Ghtroc is probably my favorite freighter that you can legally start with.
Edited by Kirdan KenobiMy favorite ships... All of them because they look coooool.
My four favourite are the A-wing, the TIE Interceptor, the TIE Avenger and the YT-2400. The first three are entirely down to the rule or cool (Or alliness saves lives as its known in UK forces).
The YT-2400 because its an excellent balance of fast, sturdy, well armed and capable of carrying a largish load. Combined with modifications and it is all things to all men(/women/aliens) provided they know their way around a socket set.
At 200 Encumbrance, the Ghtroc 720 has as much or more cargo capacity than any other known Silhouette 4 ship, and more than many Sil 5 ships. It’s also less expensive than the Lambda-class shuttle or the Sentinel-class landing craft, is faster in subspace than the GX1 Short Hauler, and unlike the Ubrikkian Seltiss-2 Caravel it actually has a Hyperdrive.
The Ghtroc 720 is also relatively inexpensive at 112k credits, which makes it cheaper than any other ship with the same cargo capacity other than the GX1.
If you would like to have gone with a CEC series ship but you need something with a bit more cargo space, the Ghtroc 720 is a pretty good choice.
I like the HT-2200. The 4 independent, separately environmentally controllable cargo bays are nice. Plenty of room for mods.

It is relatively inexpensive at 140k credits list price, and has lower crew requirements than the Wayfarer.
The Wayfarer is less expensive, faster in sublight, better primary Hyperdrive, has a more Defense in the rear quadrant, but less armor overall, slightly less Hull Threshold but higher System Strain, and finally the Wayfarer has one fewer weapon system pre-installed by default but the same number of Hard Points for modifications. And if you want to trade out the cargo container, the Wayfarer can handle much larger objects in a single cargo hold.
Overall, I’d say it’s mostly a wash between these two, unless some of the things above really make a difference for you. I can see either working well for a larger party.
The Death Star. Cruising between systems in that bad boy would be the thing. Just think of all that cargo space as well. The exhaust system design needs a little work though.
