First expansions?

Buy stuff that you can get good deals on. I just bought a Victory SD for $22 and an Assault Frigate mkII for $16. I don't even own a core set yet! Waiting on financial aid.

@bolly: Send me a PM with your location. I feel a disturbance in the Force.

Hey Intys can't PM for some reason but my location is Darlington UK (North East England)

your too green, I think you need ether time or more posts.

Tabletop gaming is actually quite big in the UK compared to most other places. Trouble is that we lack on the FLGS front due to GW store saturation so the more visible element of the hobby is dominated by the evil empire. Most of the actual gaming happens in closed off clubs like perhaps-http://www.darlingtongamingclub.org.uk/.

Also if you are not on Facebook, get on Facebook. For some reason or another the Star Wars FFG gaming scene on the UK is entirely driven by the Facebook groups so posting in those is probably the best way to find other players- https://www.facebook.com/groups/armadaukirl/.

As for your original question- Assault Frigate for the Rebels, Gladiator for the Imps. Each of those ships really opens up the game for their respective factions.

Hey thanks for the reply! Wow I had no idea that club existed lol. May have to check it out. Yes there's no doubt that tabletop gaming is popular over here to a degree but I wouldn't say it was 'big', at least in my experience and at the places I have lived. I find that the majority of people enjoy it behind closed doors and you only find out about their hobby once you've really got to know them. I don't think we're as open as the Americans on this but I accept that I may be wrong as my opinion is based on my own experience and nothing else - I know a grand total of 1 person who enjoys this stuff lol

The UK is meant to have the highest percentage of wargamers to general population in the world. GW and historics just account for the largest part of that, and a lot of that takes place in private clubs which in my experience are generally awful at advertising and recruiting. Its also a population density/age distribution thing, there are definitely gaming black spots across large portions of the country which you may unfortunately be in. It's very weird the places where these thing thrive, IQ wargaming is possibly the heartland of FFG star wars in the UK and its in Huddersfield of all places! Hell, I live in Norwich hardly the most thriving or exciting of cities in the UK and we manage to maintain 3 private wargaming clubs and a very successful gaming store which has multiple nights dedicated to different systems.

I agree with everything you just said especially what you said about gaming black spots lol. I used to live up in a remote part of Scotland and I know there was a larger gaming scene there. very weird...

@bolly: I can't PM YOU for some reason but I've PM'ed others before so might be a setting on your end that's not allowing this.

When I hover my mouse cursor over other people's names (Ion Dave, Cubanboy, Vulf, etc.) I see an option to send them a message. This option does not appear on your name. Perhaps you've disabled the forum's PM system?
