Adar+Yavaris?

By hammerghast, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I apologize if this has since been answered, I'm unsure why every forum search engine Ive ever come across can never handle the simple task of searching a board for key words in a thread title.

That aside, I'm unsure if I'm looking at some synergy here.

Adar Tallion's card toggles the activation slider back to "not activated" effectively, after the squadron moves, and if possible, attacks with a squadron command.

In comes Yavaris, giving a squadron 2 attacks if it does not moves. If I somehow activate the same squadron, which isn't hard itself, with Yavaris, is that squadron "not activated", thus fair game for the title's double attack if it does not move, for a total of Move, attack, attack, attack, with ONE particular squadron?

I won't say it seems OP because I sympathize with every last person talking about how laughable Rebels currently are, but it definitely seems suspiciously GOOD.

Thanks guys,

Hammer

You do a Squadron command (dial or token), move an X-Wing, then use that X-Wing to attack. You use Adar to "reset" the activation slider. In the coming squadron phase, assuming the target is still there, you can use that same X-Wing to attack. If you have Yavaris, it can now attack twice.

"But... but... but didn't it already move?"

A squadron can attack or move in the squadron phase. Since it did not move, it can attack. And Yavaris says it may attack twice. I think this is fair and is keeping in line with how it's meant to work.

I am going under the assumption here that resetting the activation slider does this. However, I cannot find a ruling that will cover this situation adequately. Perhaps a letter to FFG is in order, or wait for it to be FAQ'ed.

And Yavaris says it may attack twice.

Not in the squadron phase, though. Only while Yavaris is resolving a squadron command.

EDIT: And to answer the original question, yeah, it's good but it's legal :)

Is it really? I'm reading this the same way I'm reading Engine Techs. Whenever I spend a dial or a token of the appropriate command, then I can trigger Engine Techs. So if Yavaris did not spend a Squadron token nor has it revealed a Squadron dial, then it cannot activate. But if it DID have a token or dial, then not only can the Squadron'ed squadron attack twice, but ALL OTHER SQUADRONS you activate can attack twice.

OOooooo... Interesting. I just realized I made the common mistake of interpreting "you." I think you are correct here!

Not in the squadron phase, though. Only while Yavaris is resolving a squadron command.

"Effects with a command icon as a header, such as “[Maneuver]:,” can be resolved once while the ship is resolving the matching command. "

I'll clarify:

If Yavaris is SECOND to activate said squadron, Adar obviously being first and from another ship. Or would he even work...aboard Yavaris? Yeah, he must, given the logic of the first couple replies, though you'd of course need a token bolstering the command..

Nope, tokens of the same type as command dials are resolved at the same time and count as a single activation :) It's somewhere in the rules reference guide and/or the FAQ under Commands.

So, to get the triple threat, Adar needs to be on another ship. A Corvette will do fine :P

Sorry, I meant to imply that. Token on ship A with Adar, Yavaris with squadron command. Could that even be inverted? No, because Yavaris needs to be second, doesn't it?

. . . I could swear there was a video out on this. . . Now where was it. . .
