the idea of new exclusive factions (i.e, new factions in anything other than name only) is far too wildly speculative and would be a horrible business practice considering
a.) no support for two new factions against others with years of support (scum's newer, but piggybacks on the Ys/Zs/Sprays/Hwks etc)
b.) the dials and cards indicate the that ships are rebel and imperial (i.t.o gameplay)
c.) even fluffnuts who would stress the difference in these incredibly similar factions would go nuts at having their t-70 + han solo/chewie team ups be illegal
The t-70s are coming, and they'll be competing directly with the E-wing, which is a ship they are very similar to (elite X-wing, overpriced for jousting). Until we know what the new upgrade slot does, there's no telling how exactly they'll factor into the faction. Currently, the combination of evade action + system slot makes the character Es incredibly effective against elite ships while Poe's ability + thrusters makes him more effective against lots of attacks (ala swarms or TLT shots). You could easily put corran and Poe (his ability is wonderful with r5-p9, so you don't even have to scrap corran's r2-d2) in the same list
"It's exactly the same! Except different!"
You know what it's called when a faction has a different icon, and a different name?
A different faction.
So Darth Vader can't take the X/1 title because he already flies an X/1?
neither here nor there
the Tie Advance/x1 Vader thing was a load of bull from the beginning because the title specifies Tie Advance Only
Vader flies a Tie Advance x1. Vader is unique, the ship he's flying is not (so there's nothing preventing you from flying a Tie Advance x1 with the TIE/x1 title; even if the ship and the title actually had the same name which they don't).
similarly, if we find a card in the new set that says X-wing only, you can bet both the T-65 and T-70s can take it. If it says T-70 X-wing only, then only the T-70s can take it.
Not really. TIE Advanced Prototype can take the V1 title but not the X1 title, and vice versa.
An X-Wing only title would not be allowed on a T-70 X-Wing for the same reason.

I agree, that's my belief, but please let's not start that argument again.

I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW!!!! Does that make it clear to you people that I was being facetious?
the Inquisitor tie is not a Tie Advance. It is a "Tie Adv. Prototype."
yeah yeah, everyone and their two year-old knows that Adv. = advance. For gameplay purposes, however, Adv != Advance so you can't take Tie/x1s
note that the Tie/v1 title states Tie Adv. Prototype Only

it's the internet
without tone of voice, we can barely understand even sarcasm ![]()
No, really, not this argument again.
But if the T-70 ship cards just said "X-Wing" on them, then a title for "X-Wing only" would work on both T-70 and the T-65 right?
You sir are a cruel cruel man.

They can't make the card any more specific than X-Wing. They can't say 'T-65 X-Wing Only' because the X-Wing cards don't say T-65 on them.
You sir are a cruel cruel man.
lol
So yes it would?
This is FFG. The cards would say X-Wing AND T-70 X-Wing only. FFG would then release an FAQ saying that no, putting the title on a T-70 X-Wing does not give you that title twice because some rules lawyer tries to win a tournament this way.
Or else, the card is a Torpedo slot that says x-Wing only, costs 1 point and gives you boost. Then FFG would release an FAQ saying that no, you do not get to perform a boost action twice if you equip this card on a T-70 and no you cannot equip it on a T-70 because it says S-Wing.
Then they would release an FAQ that would correct the FAQ from S-Wing to X-Wing.

Apparently the T-70 X-wing and the X-wing (T-65 classic) are supposed to be two different ships. That being said I think we are going to need an FAQ to explain if any titles come for it. Same for the TAP (TIE inquisitor) and the TIE Advanced when it comes out in Wave 8.
But my post is not about the T-70 in comparison to the T-65. It is the stat line of the T-70 in comparison to the stat line of the E-wing while being 3 points cheaper. I would dare argue that the T-70 has a much better stat line especially with its action bar in comparison to the E-wing, so why is the T-70 less than the E-wing. Answer is the E-wing is as overcosted as the F-22 raptor that is now halted in production.

Honestly, Barrel Roll is stronger than Boost. Especially on small bases. While it is still too early to know what the new type of upgrades bring, a System slot really makes the Barrel Roll/Evade actions stronger. And going from 2-3 Agility greatly changes how long a ship can survive, especially with more health. In the end, the E-wing is in the same spot it was before this release.

X-wing Only now refers to the "X-wing" (T-65) and the "T-70 X-wing." T-70 X-wing Only would exclude "X-wing."
of course, such a distinction is pointless if you get a title like
Free Engines!
X-wing Only. Title.
Your action bars gains the (boost) icon
Not-sh*tty r2-d6
X-wing Only. Title.
Your upgrade bar gains the "Cool Nobby Thing" upgrade icon. You cannot equip this upgrade if you already have a "Cool Nobby Thing" upgrade icon.

As soon as I guessed that the new X-Wing might be called the "T-70 X-Wing" instead of the "X-Wing T-70" I slapped my head that you would have to make a title card overly specific. Because yeah, the way I understand things they wouldn't be able to use the same title if it just says "X-Wing only". ![]()
My guess on the faction issue: Resistance ships count as Rebel, and First Order as Imperial, for now.

Changing it later on would just piss players off more. Either have them all the same or have them separate at the start.
To wait until a couple movies are out and then say yeah no you can't use them together in a squad anymore would not be a good move.

Not if they're upfront about it. If they make it clear from the get-go that it's a temporary arrangement, just until the new factions have enough options to be viable on their own, and they announce the date of the changeover at least a couple months ahead of time, it should go smoothly with no (reasonable) grounds for complaint.

I think if the e-wing had a free title with the same effect as royal guard tie, it'd suddenly be relevant again. Stealth and engine upgrade? Yes please.
Well, I think E-wings needed something anyways. Once the T-70's come out, I'm sure they will really need something....except for Corn Hole. He was used anyways. Probably some sort of "fix" and more pilots would be better.

Yeah no
Giving people options only to tear them away will piss people off
FO and res are still blue and red and they will remain that way until ffg takes one too many to the head and starts going less JJ; more jarjar
We're stuck at 3 factions for now, and it's absolutely for the better. More options, more variety; more game
