The E-wing is DEAD!!!!!

By Marinealver, in X-Wing

New T-80 E-wing gets 4 red dice and two extra shields and advanced advanced targeting computer that has the same abilities as the advanced but allows two target locks per turn.

The new pilots aren't Rebels, so won't have any impact on the E Wing at all.

This seems incredibly unlikely.
What makes you say that? The faction names are new, the icons are new, they are from a new movie, they come from a time frame 30 years after the GCW, new factions makes perfect sense to me.

Nothing you cited here suggests they won't be separate factions either.

The biggest reason I believe they will be the same faction is that there simply won't be enough source material to start factions for both the New Order and Resistance.

When Scum was released it got 7 ships to start with. So far all we have seen is 1 ship apiece for these two supposed factions. There's been plenty of speculation about Ren's Shuttle and a new Falcon but that only gives you 2 each and it's unlikely we get those immediately given the SKU info out there.

The next biggest reason I believe they will not make the new ships into a new faction is that the Rogue One film due out in December 2016 rewind to the time period between Episodes 3 and 4. FFG is obviously going to milk everything they can out of Episode 7 but then they won't have any new material to build on for the Resistance and New Order for 2 years until Episode 8 is out.

If this game is still alive then they are going to need as many new ships as they can just for the existing factions. They will not still be trying to get these supposed new factions off the ground.

Stuff

Yeah. That.

For the record, I do NOT want them to be different factions. Different factions, to me, would be creating dividing lines in the Star Wars universe. It would make people think of a product as either belonging to the OT or the ST instead of just being "Star Wars".

Plus, what do you do when they start filling in the time gap. which faction does a T-70 piloted by Wedge 17 years ABY fit in?

Good riddance.

I second that sentiment.

As to why, I personally dislike the look of the ship. It looks like it was cobbled together in a garage with leftover parts. Not in a good way.

Subjective, a lot of people said that about the K Wing but here it is.

I'm a big E Wing fan and I hope something gets released to make the non-Corran E Wings viable.

I think if they were going to be the same faction, they'd have kept the same icons and faction names. They'll be different factions, mark my words. And the game will be better for it.

Maybe, all the new stuff belongs to a new stanalone Ep VII Special Edition X-Wing.

Leave that poor dead horse alone...

At this point there hitting the ground where the horse's bones used to lay... Anyway, Saying any of the EU ships are getting axed before we know anything for certain is just ridiculous.

Resistance is futile

I'm going to Fred your words out of spite and there's nothing you can do about it.

Resistance is futile

First Order fanatic!

I don't think it is bad for a ship to be defined largely by the named pilots.

I do wish there was some way to better exploit E'tahn.

I don't know. Back when I was playing my Decimator all the time there was no ship I was more afraid of seeing on the table across from me than E'tahn.

He combos well with Ten Numb, problem being ten numb isn't exactly cheap. I want to try him with a headhunter swarm, stacking up those crits could be fun.

Good riddance.

What's your problem with the E Wing? I really like the ship and I'm sad they aren't very viable beyond one pilot.

I just can't abide the look of the thing. (Oddly, I find the design to remind me of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. (Note that I have nothing against Eeyore, poor guy. (Now I suddenly want one so I can paint it to look like Eeyore!)))

It also bothers me that it is in a different time frame than the rest of the ships. I, for one, will likely not pick up any Episode VII stuff until there is enough ships available to keep it seperate from the classic era ships.

I just can't abide the look of the thing.

The problem with the E-Wing aesthetically isn't that it is ugly (which it is) but that it could have so easily been cool looking. Bring the engines up against the fuselage, move or get rid of the gun over the canopy, maybe add a dorsal fin and it is a really great looking ship.

I think it is the haphazard way that cool components are just slapped together that rubs people the wrong way with it.

E-Wings and Tie Defenders are all 2 points too expensive.

If the standard point total for tournaments was changed to 120 points though, the slight over cost would not be an issue.

And then we could have 10 Tie swarms too!

Maximum 8 ships of one type remember?

I do support a shift to bigger games though, opens up a lot more options, especially for fans of the superfighters.

I just realized E'tahn leading a strike squad against an Epic ship would be insane.

Or spotting for one. :)

T70:

THRUSTERS!!!!!!!!

swanky ps 8 pilot loves taking on multiple baddies with his ability

E-wing

EVADDEEER

system slot

Corran loves taking on fat ships with his actions + shield regen + his abiliyy

Um actually they are...

I really like the look of the E-wing.

I have no problems with the third gun up top, it tighten's up the weapon spread and as for the engines having them as far from the centre line as possible makes for a far more maneuverable spacecraft.

Mechanically the E-wing is a far more realistic design than the X .

But hay each to their own aye

A lot depends on dial, and what the new upgrade does. That being said...

Durability: The E-wing has one less hull, but one more Green die and an Evade action. Advantage E-wing, although individual games may see the green dice fail to perform.

Price: 3 points cheaper for the generics and the second generic has an EPT. Blue Ace is 5(!) points cheaper than Etahn but lacks an EPT (Although he sort of has stress-less daredevil built in. Sort of, since Daredevil is a second manuver, so it behaves differently than a modified boost action. But, no stress token). Poe is 4 points cheaper than Corran, but their abilities are very different. Poe is a Tie Fighter's worst nightmare, while Corran loves to munch on big ships.

Offense: Comparable, but E-wings have FCS as an option. Depends on what the new upgrade does.

With TLT being a thing now, what are peoples thoughts on a Sensor Jammer/Shield Regen Ewing in the new meta?

thoughts are jammies are unnecessary

having flown TLTs obsessively for a while now (dem Ks, man, too fun ^_^), I can say I'd never have killed a PTL + r2-d2 E-wing without conner's. ******* thing is tougher than boot leather and twice as chewy.

jammies might be necessary on a phantom though. The shield regen makes all the difference on the E, but even Whisper's evade + focus are prone to miserable dice failure.
