Star Destroyer/Assault frigate

By Guest, in Star Wars: Armada

I've seen some of this guys work before when he did a few Battlestars. Ran across his site earlier. Worth a look. Also check out the tutorial page, there's some interesting tips in there.

The older posts are well worth checking out as well just for the art work.

The painting and craftsmanship are absolutely top notch. He is very talented. However, though the work is first rate the theme does not appeal to me. They are overdone to the point of being gaudy. They look more like elegant yachts than warships.

I agree awesome work BUT over done.

Isn't that assault frigate esays from the iff podcast... He posted it on there Facebook page

Yes, very skilled and I do like the way he achieves the blue glow of light- otherwise, no not my cup of tea. Way overdone on the shading of panels, the ships look like Christmas trees, not deadly powerful, enormous forces of destruction.

I echo what has been said up to now, but I just want to add that those hangar bays for the Victory are super cool.

Horrible. He has crazy skills though, but the colours etc. are just all wrong to me. The VSD looks like it was made from LEGO bricks, though I do like how he opened up the wings.

Agreed with all the above. A good example of amazing technical skill, but a style and palette choice that will not appeal to many.

That said, the AF looks much better than the VSD....i could see it being captained by a Rebel ex-privateer or something!

I like the style. It looks like something out of one of the animated series, maybe not for everyone but very stylish!

I don't quite get the hangers. Does a Victory actually do that?

I don't think so. I think it's only the ventral hangar. But it's cute!

I think the paint job would have been amazing if it had the right effect due to light source. Think of a sphere in the light.

The images are really jarring as a spaceship wouldn't look like that unless there are light sources hitting each panel independant of the other.

The red lines on the VSDs makes me think of how they might have looked like if the Rebels had them captured and repurposed.

Great technique...but it makes me feel that the ships belong to a Star Wars/Austin Powers crossover.
