I assumed it could affect them to some degree. After all, with the force it is equally possible to repair as it is to rip something apart from the inside,

Could a variation on the Heal/Harm power be created that's using the fluf behind Move instead to Repair/Damage by manipulating the internal components. Replace Medicine skill checks with Mechanics. It only works on Droids and Small Tech (Data Pads, Doors, Computer Terminals), making repairs easier. It would be its own Force Power, structured just like Heal/Harm, due to the specialist nature of what's being done.

I have no idea how this fits with Legends (and frankly don't care ) but it could be a cool power for a Sentinel Artisan.

Balance wise vehicles probably shouldn't be allowed to be affected (although systems could) for HT, but possibly ST, inflicting Crits on Vehicles also seem too over powered

I think the 'correct' solution depends on your table. I think it would be reasonable to require at least add a control upgrade for the power, but if it was getting used A BUNCH, I think it would warrant it's own power.

I think KotOR had a "Stun/Harm Droids" power, so there's some precedent for the power. The Heal/Harm power would be a great start point, but start with causing system strain, then control upgrades to inflict wounds. A mastery upgrade could allow you to use the power on vehicles, but results would be subject to Armor.

Just some ideas.

I don't think Heal/Harm is supposed to work on droids or other non-living targets at all and I wouldn't use it as the basis of a power to disrupt machines. OTOH, a variation of Protect/Unleash that inflicts ion damage seems reasonable.

As written, it won't work on droids. Both heal and harm specify living creatures. Droids aren't living, so they aren't a valid target for the power.
