If Vader is on the aft section of the Raider, does he still get to use his ability when the fore section's guns are firing? Also, which section takes Vader's damage then - aft or fore?
Can the Raider take regular modifications, like Engine Upgrade?

Yes.

Good question. Probably the aft (that is, the section Vader is occupying), but expect a FAQ ruling on this.

No. Huge ships can only take modifications that indicate "Huge only".

Wouldn't it fall under the rules concerning damage?
If an effect would damage both sections of a huge ship, the opposing player chooses one section, and the chosen section suffers the damage.
If a huge ship suffers damage from a source that does not explicitly affect a single section, the opposing player chooses which section suffers the damage. Crippled sections cannot be chosen.
.
I think this would apply, no?
Edited by DagonetSo Vader does his thing, then the opponent chooses which section he damages?

It does apply.
Vader on a Raider is not a very good idea.
Even though it is an excellent rhyme?

Excellent find and until the day a FAQ says otherwise, I think it will be a default answer.
If Vader were to be on a Raider then I think the backup shield generator would be a must. I'd be curious to test it out myself.
A few people ran the Vader Raider at a tourney yesterday with mixed results.
Backup shield Generator is certainly more powerful than I realized. Because of the way actions are divided, having to choose between reinforce and restore is very difficult.
Many people ran ship swarms to overwhelm the raider, and reinforce is VITAL to prevent going down almost immediately from this.
Many times I wished for a backup shield Generator.
I used Vader a handful of times to varying effect. He needs to be saved for the right moment when you're sitting on stacks of shields on your exposed sections, reinforced, and the enemy ship has shields down.
In that context, he's beastly. Epic ship crits are seriously crippling.
As we played it, the opponent picked where all of Vader's damage landed.
