Twin Laser Turrets: Why they're scary, and how you can fight back.

Juke is actually an offensive upgrade...

You're thinking of the Evade storage, which is Tech and thus limited to TIE/FOs.

Time to add "Red Ace" to the list. Heck, at the moment, just add the T-70 in general.

Well, there was a limited amount I could say when I wrote the OP. But yeah, the T-70 with Autothrusters is going to be a pretty tough counter for any TLT--especially once you start looking at any other defensive upgrade or pilot ability.

Too bad Red Ace can't Juke...

You could always use R2-D6, Juke, and Integrated Astromech. When Integrated Astromech comes into play, you've lost your shields and can no longer trigger Red Ace's ability anyways.

For those who hate tlt's, I have a story for you.

First game of galactic cup last night. I have a ps1 hwk with tlt (only tlt in my list). Aggressor with hlc and evade rolls 4 natural hits against it and I only evade one hit by spending my focus.

Now I still have to wither two ywings with tlt with 2 hull left and no focus.

First attack

He gets 3 hits after focus so that's an auto damage. Also gains TL from agromech.

Second attack

Gets 1 hit, spends TL and gets nothing. I roll 1 evade.

Third attack.

Rolls 2 hits. Already spent focus on defense so can't get the TL. I get 2 evades.

Fourth attack

Rolls zero hits. I've survived!!!

Poe Dameron, correctly outfitted, is going to be a pain for TLTs.

I don't understand why people feel like this is going to be a thing. From what I understand Poe can reliably get 2 evades vs out of arc shots. But TLT shoots 3 dice and with things like agromechs 3 hits is fairly common.

The TL only works once so odds are one roll will be naked, your

50/50 with a focus that you'll get an evade with AT that gives you a decent chance to ignore all hits.

Sure you could get three hits but most of the time you won't.

Three or four RecSpec TLTs couldn't care less about two green dice, autothrusters or no.

Yes they care

If focus were a guaranteed 3 hits I would never have to worry about a single die roll in this game

The Aggromechs were a bigger issue for me when it comes to reliability. Flying against even a couple of them with a list containing no more than 2 Agility was certainly pretty painful for the vast majority if the time.

TLT HWKs are way less of an issue to me- you can chew through hwks pretty fast compared to Ys.

Unless you're a tie fighter. Recspec hwks can last forever against swarms compared to Y's.

not at range 1 :)

(which they are far easier to catch in, stupid red 3 bank <_< )

Yeah, experience has taught me that getting 3 hits isn't all that easy or reliable. When you add in that he will be recovering a shield, it will be making it very, very difficult to kill Poe.

2 evades (ability + thrusters) + shield regen + ps 8 + boost = TLT tears

find the (at most) 2 r4 y-wings and hug one of them. The other won't be able to kill you in time

Rebel Operative + Recon Specialist + TLT has all the PS and dial problems of a Y-wing group, plus it's hilariously fragile. Warden Squadron + Recon Specialist + TLT is a much sturdier platform, but of course you can't get four of those in a list.

Right, I should expand: if you want your two agility + AT to save you from massed TLT fire, you're going to be disappointed (unless you're Poe). If you're only relying on it to do a bit of lifting when you miscalculate and miss the donut (or are only partially in the donut, or whatever), that's fine. But it's the combination of the T70's dial and boost that's most helpful, with the AT serving to make errors and unavoidable fire a bit less painful.

Looks like it's time to bump the thread again.

For newcomers, here's the capsule description: TLTs can be nasty if you're coming up against them unprepared, or if you're using an old 2-ship list that depends on one or two really expensive ships.

If you want to beat them, invest in cheap hit points, prioritize more hit points over more Agility, bid to PS 3 or better, and think seriously about defensive upgrades that work against more than one attack each round.

Because I missed the last page of this thread, apparently (thanks for the bump, VS). TLTs do care about Autothruster T70s, because ATs make it more likely that TLTs need all three red dice to be hits to punch their damage through. In this case, ATs are not about stopping all damage, they're about pushing the kill shot back just one turn to give you more chances to kill another TLT/run away/soak an extra shot, saving a different ship from TLT fire. Even if three hits is fairly common with a Focus or TL, you only need to successfully defend against a few attacks to put off death another turn.

Looks like it's time to bump this one.

Again.

Also, Palpatine.

I am wondering if stress based control builds would be good against a 4 Y or HWK list. If you can deprive them of actions their damage output will get pretty handicapped. The Ys and HWKs don't have the best dials for shedding stress.

Nice bump!

That's why the Scum version of the list with the droid that transforms 3 speed into green is probably the best version of this list; it removes the most obvious weakness (stress reducing efficiency for an already limited ship).

I do hope Wave 9 has a ship with Sensor Jammers. As much as I am enjoying a Shuttle w/Palpatine, I'm not too eager for a second shuttle.

I flew whisper against a scum Y and Hawk last weekend and it was carnage.

Phantom blocked their action by decloacking and was most of the time in range one...
