Ignoring Members in your settings!

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

Postcount for instance means nothing when there are a lot of other forums for other games.

IT PUTS THE LOTION ON IT'S SKIN OR IT GETS THE HOSE AGAIN.

I don't mind new cool people asking good questions.

But smarty know-it-all's, now that is something that I do mind... just a tiny bit... sometimes.

:P

So you don't mind people asking questions, only people who know enough to answer them...?

That's what's known as "Joe-logic", Vorpal Sword. Or "Jogic", if you prefer.

Hey Joe, any chance of an XG-1 Assault Gunboat emoticon?

Pretty please?

You love to make stuff harder. You rascal...

Yups... I'll do it soon.

so I tried this and got the message

"You cannot ignore that member"

I'm bummed that I can't ignore myself.

We will gladly ignore you, if it helps?

(out of curiosity, which one got banned?)

Greetings!ยก

???

I think you mean "grettings" hahaha

I primarily dont like seeing people being mean to guys, (esp nubes) just because they ask questions which seem "obvious" or "simple!"

Newcomers generally get quite a lot of help on this forum. Pretty much everyone is happy to help new players out.

When posters who've been on the forum for 3+ years are posting nothing but help request topics for what is really pretty basic stuff when you get right down to it, that's a different matter. A little bit of snark is perfectly acceptable under those circumstances, I'd say.

A newcomer, however, would not easily see that someone is a regular here and will just see someone get snarked at and possibly decide to go elsewhere.

Exactly! Sometimes a high postcount means somebody is simply typing all the time and not reading!! And in person they are the one that is talking all the time and never listening!

Or they've spent a lot of time on an LCG and are new to X-Wing.

I wish I could just put your imogis on ignore.

You can block all of the board's emoji like this, using AdBlock:
community.fantasyflightgames.com##img.bbc_emoticon
Unfortunately, it won't work on embedded images--and you won't be able to block things like Joe's "BAD POST" without blocking every image on the board.

I.just don't understand why someone would want to block the emote things.

Even if you don't like them is it really that hard to just scroll past...

^probably me, apparently I have that effect and should kill myself

here's an adblocker filter that completely hides the white "post hidden" element, you'll only see stuff when quoted. I have yet to figure out if you can block quotes with a specific username in the opening tag.

community.fantasyflightgames.com##DIV.post_ignore
(out of curiosity, which one got banned?)

Yeah...

You are funny to me. No one on the internet is worth getting upset over.

:D

Dont get upset, just "ignore!"

By the way.... this: community.fantasyflightgames.com##DIV.post_ignore actually works.

The handful of schmucks on here that are determined to try and ruin our love of this awesome property no longer exist. period they go away.

I like dats.

:)

Posted in your Star Wing topic.

Even did Blast-'Em versions.

Now save 'em in one of your X-WING files and you can post the critters all over.

:D

Personally I feel there is no room to be rude on FFG's Forums. A little fun poking and some banter in good fun is great but being rude is not needed.

Especially with new players, if they ask a question that you feel is so simple it is not worth your time don't waste everyone's time by making a rude response.

But there was a forum where I did block someone when they sent me nasty PM's and trolled me because he disagreed with me. As a 40-something I have no time for immature kids playing tough on the keyboards.

40-fine-and feel like we are still -14.

With Episode VII coming I don't know who is more a kid at heart, me or my 8 year old son? We can't stop getting older but no one said we had to grow up. ;)

Love keeps you young.

You could ask the same question about why have an ignore list at all.

After some testing, it seems that the actual image URLs may change occasionally (not very often, current filters should hold), probably due to Google backend stuff. Filtering by ALT seems to work, though, and should be more consistent if he re-uploads.

I wish I could just put your imogis on ignore.

Because it's annoying, adds nothing, and eats up data.

Cause my brother not everyone can have a fun life and enjoy cool post by cool people.

;)

Now if only this would work against those annoying spam bots.

Yes! My thoughts exactly. If you feel like it's a stupid question and you're exasperated by it, just let it go. Some of the rest of us would love a chance to help newcomers out, so just move on to the next post and let those who aren't exhausted with the same question answer it for once.
