Ten Numb the Hunter

By Beatty, in X-Wing

So I have been playing around with some B-Wing builds designed to go after high agility ships when Ten Numb and a Mangler combo caught my eye. Now I have a fun idea but it maybe a bit point heavy so give me your thoughts.

Ten Numb

-Mangler Cannon

-Advanced Sensors

-Predator

-B-Wing/E2

-Merc Copilot

The rest of my squad will be 2 B-Wing work horses. So does this look too bloated or has this worked?

I like Ten Numb- just point him at Soontir Feel and see that stealth device pop like it was nothing... But I think your version is way to over cost... I would drop predator for veteran instincts and drop the E2 title and Merc. Copilot becuase you already got a "crit modifikation" the mangler- and Ten Numb's ability only affects one crit result... This version is 39 point which is still pretty darn expensive but really fun to fly.... this gives you 5 points to play with maybe give your work horses a ion canon and a flechette for a little control?

It is easy to build a super ship, but the thing is to build a good ship and have plenty of it that can take down a point fortress within 75 minuets without getting destroyed. The more points you spend on a ship the more likely it is going to get killed unless you have hard mitigation such as C-3PO.

Why pay for all that gear when Calculation effectively does the same thing, about 2/3 of the time (even higher with FCS).

Ten Numb still works well with Etahn, you can run a Blue and a Z and still have 3 points to play with.

way too expensive he`ll never earn his points back before dying.

Holy golden crap on a blue stick batman, that's a lot of gear! Yes it's a deadly combo but here's the thing, Ten dies just as fast as any other B-wing and for 44 points you can get two normal Blue B-wings.

The cheapest build to utilize Ten's ability would be just to stick Calculation on him, just Lampyridae suggests above. FCS is optional but works great with Calc as well. Personally though I prefer Mangler Cannon and VI as that extra PS allows you to negate a lot of the arcdodging shenanigans that slippery targets like Soontir normally do.

With tlt now out, he's become ten nub the hunted :P

Gonna need jammies and c3po to survive now (not that the old environment really helped things though)

Numb, Advanced Sensors, Calculation. That's all you need.

Ten Nunb, Mangler, AS (VI)

Buidling a points fortress has not worked well for me. I think that by spreading the wealth of my upgrade across the whole squad I usually do better over the course of many games. Something to think about is maybe putting an Ion cannon on one of your B wings. During play we never know what will be across the table from us and a control item can wreck a well laid plan, or a formation. There is nothing better than watching a ship coast with out power into my entire squads kill zone.

Over all I really like your plan for Ten so long as you stick with the refined version.

There's a whole thread on 'The Numb' in the squad sub-forum. Go have a read and make up your own mind.

As much as I love playing Ten Numb with Mangler I don't think it is a tourney winner. Certainly not in my hands. It's great against some builds but...

It does get instant respect, fear and targeting.

He is easy to get stressed and shedding stress is hard. So FCS on him works for me.

Ten Numb + VI + Mang Cannon + FCS + a squad that work well on their own and with Numb...

Always looking for better builds with Numb so keep suggesting

Ten Nunb, Mangler, AS (VI)

This right here is probably the best way to run him

I just run him with VI and Mangler. In this meta that's all you need.

Yep. Advanced sensors or FCS if you got the points but those are usually unnecessary. He's usually first to get targeted and killed so you normally don't get the benefit from the sensor upgrades. He counters interceptors and Phantoms hard but is a little 'meh' against a lot of other ships. Most PWT don't care about Ten Numb. You are going to hit them anyway.

Thanks for the input everyone. It looks like I will try Ten with Mangler and AS for now and tweak it as I go.

Cut down on some of the upgrades on Ten and throw Jan in your list for an extra Attack Die.

New list idea,

Ten Numb

-Advanced Sensors

-Mangler

Kenyan Farlander

-Advanced Sensors

-Autoblaster

Blue Squadron

-Advanced Sensors

This will split the hate between Ten Numb and Kenyan. Ten Numb can make the early strike while Kenyan can get in and get the close range for middle and late game. Old Blue will be there for support.

Need to figure out if one B-Wing is better than two Z95's though.

Autoblasters are just plain bad and doesn't help Keyan at all. He needs some way to stress himself if he's going to be useful and that is usually done with Stay on Target or PtL. SoT in particular is pretty **** nasty on Keyan.

keyan wants either push the limit or stay on target to give him stress.

Push the Limit it is.

No he doesn´t need PTL, there are plenty of red maneuvers on the dial, advanced sensors is the way to go. If points left, add Veteran Instincts and the is perfect

Being able to barrel roll then TL and use the stress as a focus gives you options, never a bad thing.

Movement alone is not a good way to use his ability, he's in a b-wing so has a limited life span a turn not using his ability is a turn you've wasted points.

Of course, PTL is verygood on him, but for me too much points. In my opinion VI is better then you can compete with all the classic PS9 arc-dodgers.

I think Calculation has given Ten new life. For 32 points you've got a beast that should be getting at least a point of damage through each round (and a crit at that!). For 35 points you can trade out the EPT of the Mangler cannon and get the added bonuses there.
