HLC Vs Mango Cannon

Here the question:

I won a tournament last week with a Slam & Dash list ( Miranda + Push the limit Dash ). The team is very strong, and Dash is a great arc dodger ( b.roll + boost ), Miranda support him with annoyng TLT and 2x Seismic Charges ( and obviously with regenerating skill )

Dash have the HLC ( really strong ) but the issue is its Donnut Hole against agility ships like Soontr and Twin IG.

With Wave 7 the metagame is changing, and the national championship is very near ( September 5 and 6 ) and i would like to play this list that is a good call.

HLC Pros

- 4 Red dice

- no range bonus

- benefit against ships with a lot of shields, or with 2/3 green dice

HLC Con

-Donnut hole, really bad against agility ships

. no direct crit hit ( only from TL re-rolls )

- 7 points cost

Mango Pros:

- no donnut hole, i can shot at r1

- no range bonus

- direct crit from rolls and cannon modification

- only 4 points

Mngo Con:

- Less Fire power

- Less effective Vs ships that defend with a tons of green dice

I don't know how many nemesis list i can find in a tournament with 90+ players, ( it's a russian lottery ) i want to risk with HLC but i also like the idea of ​​having 4 more points to spend on Miranda FTW not having more to think about the donnut hole

Mangler has my vote, but it is a double edged sword here. I feel a big enemy on the horizon will be x4 TLT ships. As for your current build, they can be scary. With mangler, you are using dash to get in their range 1 "hole", and hopefully due to many low agility ships in this TLT future, be dealing crits with your mango. I like Miranda flying around popping shields w/ bombs & TLT being aggressive. As stated, you also open up better match ups against other lists that will still be viable and strong (Soontir/Vader etc.). Double edged sword, you keep HLC, sit at range and get mutilated while trying to pop as many ships as you can with four dice before you go down. My opinion, cheers.

Not to mention Miranda should maybe all in her ability to 4 dice TLT Soontirs. Could also situate her between Soontir and Dash, running the risk of Miranda hitting Soontir with R1 PWT turret shots. She's pretty beastly.

Edit: Soontirs in this case is a blanket term for arc dodgers trying to get in the donut hole.

Te Corner Net is a good tips, but it requires an action, and i'm not rinning the ADV SLAM to have more synergies with the SLAM action and i find the seismic more menageable i can place it before i move Miranda, or after the movement taking the SLAM action, they did a really great job in tournaments and playtest. Free damage to ships and then hit from TLT ;)

Anyway probably if i have to face off fast ships i will use Miranda to cover Dash

The role of Miranda is to support Dash with TLT removing tokens from the main target ( right ), then Dash have only to hit :D. With Mango cannon i have one less red dice, but the crit for sure. Yes that can be really good, but the problem is: I HAVE TO HIT and with stealth device, autotrusthers, two focus and one evade is really hard :D

I have to try it anyway.

Yesterday during the playtest, i had a bad time facing off only fast ships ( my choice ) using HLC. The lists have not problem VS the ohter lists then i'm put mi attenction on this kind of list and ships to fix the strategy

HLC. With all the autothruster arc-dodgers in play, three dice on a turret is pretty useless at all ranges. Just keep Miranda close.

Point for Point, HLC is better than the Mangler on Dash. That extra red die gives you a potential 4 damage, otherwise you'll never get through autothrusters/stealth devices. Those are the primary Imperial Meta right now, and Soontir is once again tearing up the fields with it.
