Getting the impression that there are going to be a lot of Raider and Decimator lists at the Team Epic tournament I'm going to next weekend so I'm thinking about running Rebels, even though I just got my own Raider. I'm also a noob, so I want to use my points on just a few ships so I don't play crazy slow and crash all my guys into each other. Is it just a bad call to run my GR75 in a 200pt list? Anyone have 200pt Rebel lists they've had good luck with? Please see my signature to see the ships I'm working with. Thanks for your help!
200pt Team Epic Tournament list?
BUMP - help a brother out! Not me, but the poor sucker that just signed up to be my partner at my FIRST EVER EPIC TOURNAMENT!!!
Okay, finally have a partner and some lists:
Partner's list: http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/301437/partners-squad
My list: http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/301425/stress-support
His list seems pretty straightforward, with the CR90 set up to dish out most of the damage against opponent's Raiders and Decimators (which, again, I think we'll be seeing a lot of) and his Y-Wings are good against arc-dodgers. My list is set up to support the CR90 with Roark and Dutch - passing out target locks to work with his Weapons Engineer and Sensor Team while making sure he gets to use them by shooting first. If someone gets too close, maybe their ICTs make them easier targets for the quads.
Then my Panic-Attack-style Bs and Y do what they do while getting extra stress and damage from the GR75. If I run the GR75 right at the bad guys with Panic Attack support, hopefully it'll make for some tough decisions as it breaks up formations and does damage itself, rather than leaving them free to focus fire on my partner's corvette.
Why not drop the Flechette Blue completely to spend some points on cannons and an EM Emitter? That way your GR-75 can shield a lot of damage (great for Roark). If you can find some room somewhere for an Intelligence Agent you can even have Captain Antilles be that much more effective.
Here as well, how are the two of you going to use Coordinate? It is the only action remaining for front part of the Corvette if you'll be passing him Target Locks. At that point it's going to be a convoluted chain of passing actions when it'd be much cleaner if the front just target locks by himself.
Clean is good, it takes less mental energy.
I'm not saying it's bad, far from it, I just personally don't see the synergies I guess?

Dropped the third B-Wing completely to make room for HLCs on the others, and dropped Dutch to make a second Stresshog. I heartily agree that clean is good, especially for my first ever Epic games! Rolled remaining points into GR-75, which worries me a little because I've read elsewhere that you don't want to spend too many points on the transport. But maybe that's when it's the only Epic ship on the board and there aren't other, more tempting targets. I had enough extra points for a Z-95 but 1) I don't own one and 2) the Combat Retrofit nets me 3hp for 10pts as opposed to 4hp for 12pts if I took a Bandit. Also, in this particular build, the GR75 has the potential to do more damage than a Z-95, it makes it easier for me to manage the single Panic Attack squad (which I've flown before), and every shot absorbed by the transport is a shot not taken at the Corvette.
I'm not saying it's bad, far from it, I just personally don't see the synergies I guess?
I was clearly making way too much of the Dutch 'combo' when you're completely right: there's no real reason for the CR90's fore to be coordinating instead of target-locking. This is the kind of feedback I was hoping for!

Edited by FuturistiKenPersonally i wish FFG would ban Roarks ability in epic play because it's just ludicrous to think the Corvette shoots at PS 12 but thats another issue altogether. Now i'd be worried about all your low agility ships, only 1 Ship has 2 agility and will be target #1. And the fact that a lot of your ships are slow, when i played Epic the other day my opponent had Y-wings and Z-95's while i had Squints and Brights, needless to say. only 1 Bright ever got shot at by an opposing fighter, with the amount of space to fly in ships with speed 5 and boost or barrel roll can play around you all day. IMO your lists could use some A-wings just to keep fast fighters honest

This all makes good sense to me in general, but I'm part of a pretty small and inbred X-Wing community. Hence I have unusually good scouting on what I'm going to face and I get the impression it's going to be mostly Raiders and Decimators. I know a lot of 300pt Epic lists will have lots of TIEs that would run circles around me but in this 200pt-per-person team format I just don't think I'm going to see as many ships. Add to that the fact that these will be the first ever Epic games for many of the people at the tournament so I think most guys will be trying to avoid flying a bunch of swarmy, fast ships, just to keep the mental load down. Plus, the whole point of my transport is to limit boosting and barrel-rolling and whatnot, to set up easy shots for my slowass fighters.
Also I only own one A-Wing.... ![]()
Reworked the list again, combining the above feedback:
http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/301425/standby-ion-control
All of my small ships are now PS4 and I've taken a 2pt initiative bid, so they should at least get to shoot before the Raider kills them. Also, EVERYONE has an ion cannon, so maybe I just get to keep the Raider from doing anything other than use its primary once a round. Also, I know it seems a little crazy to put EU on Y-Wings, but using them with R2s actually makes them fairly shifty. Dropped the BTL-A4 titles as well to make sure I get to shoot back even if someone scoots in behind, while adding C-3PO to Roark to help him live a little longer.
Edited by FuturistiKenit looks better, does your tournament require both team members to have a huge ship?
if it doesn't i would drop the transport to get more fighters. And it's a good thing you switched to PS 4 , i was tinkering with a team build for an epic game near my area where the S&V players can take a transport or Corvette without the rebel crews and we only need 2 epic points and i thought how crazy it would be to take Eval with HLC, all 4 IG-88's with Predator and HLC,2 Tansarri veterans with Predator and HLC,Serissu with Predator and HLC and a ramming transport.
That list would evaporate all the low agility PS2 ships you had originally.
Miskey, edit forthcoming...
Edited by FuturistiKenTournament is on Sunday, and I've put together no fewer than 50 lists, but I think at least my teammate has settled on this:
http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/301437/partners-squad
He's the more experienced player and will be the team captain. Also looks like he's set up to dish out a lot of damage but not to support the CR90, so here's what I've been thinking:
http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/305095/greys-and-greens
Obviously Roark stays close to the CR90. The Warthogs are my heavy-hitters, and the A-Wings cover the Ys and my teammates Bs while they drop the hammer.
Considerations: It's a small tournament - only 4 teams of 2 each. Also, while Wave 7 is legal, I'm pretty sure there's only one guy that has any Wave 7 ships at all and he just has one each of the Punisher and Kihraxz. Also expect to see only one Raider, and that likely alongside a Decimator for half of one of the opposing teams. This will be the first Epic tournament for basically everyone playing, and the first Epic games for many of us. While tournament rules and procedures will be in effect, this will likely be a very low-key and friendly event as we're a smallish and newish community, we basically all know each other at least through a local Facebook group, and the event itself is sort of glommed onto a much larger event focused on 40k. TL;DR - none of us is very good at Epic and there will likely be a tendency to do things like take a Huge ship and finish out the list with ships that tend to fit more in Standard. That's really what's informing my expensive PS bids and extra upgrades. That said, I can see that there's definitely an argument to be made for dropping the souped-up Greens in favor of naked Reds.
Thoughts?
