I saw a pic of the Special Forces TIE today from a new Canadian toy catalog and it showed the thingy on the top (I thought it was an antenna) pointed to the FRONT, as opposed to sticking straight up like in all the other pics. It kinda looks like it can point in other directions as well. I figure... if it is actually a weapon, this bad boy is pack a HEAVY punch in the combat phase. Ventral turret, Forward Lasers and now this?

Has anyone else seen this? What do YOU think?

Could simply be anti-personel weaponry... Must admit I thought it was antenna until the leaked picture today.

Otherwise it does seem like overkill.

A rear facing window and a turret underneath

It was obvious from the original photos it was a cannon...You could see the hinges on it from one of the pics

I wouldn't put too much stock in a toy. The rocket raccoon Warbird toy from Guardians of the Galaxy looks nothing like the film, basic profile aside (it has an extra pair of wings for a start)

That's a really good point - this is so often the case, and if it hadn't already been shown in actual footage, I'd be inclined to agree.

It can bee seen in the Comic-Con behind the scenes reel, however...
