Crackshot

Amen. A 1-pt throw-away EPT should not be the sole reason why people would need to over-spend their tokens.

Well, FFG just turned an interesting 1 point EPT into a "meh" expendable.

From the new FAQ:

Crack Shot

Crack Shot must be used during the “Modify Defense Dice” step, before the defender modifies his dice.

Eh. Still almost as good; just can't be used to token-bait anymore.

Also can't be used at all if the defender rolls all focus and blank, then modifies them. That's actually going to be a rather huge hit to this thing's playability.

So it moved from the latest (and most powerful) time you could cancel a result to be earliest (and weakest). But it's still pretty powerful. I've been playing around with Sensor Jammer a lot lately, and now Juke, and neither one has an effect as powerful as Crack Shot--obviously they don't go away when used, but the actual effect of Crack Shot is still really strong. I think it'll still be worth running, especially on ships like A-wings and TIE fighters that sometimes struggle to get damage through good rolls.

It's become a way to not only get rid of an evade result, but hopefully force your opponent to use their tokens/one-use abilities.

I still like it.

Looks like FFG just updated the FAQ. They reversed the last FAQ on Crackshot and performing free actions while on Asteroids. Crackshot is good again.

Crack Shot

Crack Shot must be used at the start of the “Compare
Results” step.

LOL. This is getting awesome.

LOOKS LIKE CRACK SHOT IS BACK ON THE MENU, BOYS!

Great, now I have whiplash.

It's also why when a FAQ comes out I tend to let it drift for a few days before checking for the inevitable updated version. :)

I love the change from "No" to "Yes". I wonder what editing/approval process results in a one-word answer being wrong?

next FAQ: "Crack Shot can only be used during deployment."

I'm guessing that the answer was right but the question got edited to be wrong. Someone changed the wording of the question so that the answer needed to be in affirmitive to give the desired result.

That or they copied the wrong answer over. It's probably harder to catch that than it would be if the answer had been a full sentence.

next FAQ: "Crack Shot can only be used during deployment."

I look forward to the rules argment over the word "must" in the Crackshot FAQ. The first time that a ship with Crackshot gets to the compare results step when attacking it must use Crackshot.

It says something about our player base that this would not surprise me in the least.

So does Crack Shot work on evade tokens and 3PO evades then or does it only cancel a die specifically.

Well it say you may cancel one of the defender's evade results, and it triggers at the start of the compare results step. It doesn't care how you got that result. It's going to cancel it regardless.

Since they changed it for Ten/Autoblaster a while back, there's no distinction between "die results" and "results". So just as you can't spend an evade token to avoid a hit from an Autoblaster, Crack Shot can cancel an evade result.
