Kylo Ren
An article detailing info on the Kylo Ren character. Don't read if you are averse to any spoilers.
Well thank you for this. You see, I AM averse to spoilers, but like most fans I can't quite resist.... ![]()
ETA: Not many spoilers there so I forgive you. It's interesting to note that it's not just the cross-guard lightsaber that had a European look. If you look at the concept armor (especially helmet), it also had a European knight influence. That's a departure from the past eastern influence.
I liked the concept art of the swept back helmet better then what we are seeing now. BUT, I don't recall seeing what the back of the final helmet looks like since he always has that hood up. Is there a picture with the helmet on and hood down?
ETA. Searching couldn't find any images of Kylo Ren with the hood down. It's either no helmet at all with hood down, or hood up and helmet. Looking at some other concept art at http://media.melty.es/article-2580810-fb-f1419325014/star-wars-7-kylo-ren-kylo-ren-casco-star.jpg perhaps the rest of the helmet is too Vaderish to reveal before release? Kylo's helmet made from the remains of Vader's? Everyone I'm sure has seen the image of the melted Vader helmet in early Ep. 7 concept art. In the sideview of the helmet in my link you can see behind the cheek what could be melted material. So his helmet's similar appearance to Vader's is not just in homage, but actually parts of Vader's?
Anyone else find the concept art for the Knights of Ren at the bottom of the article a little creepy?
I wonder if this character is going to get worked up like Maul did only to get cut down by the end of his first movie.
Luke Skywalker: Don't make me destroy you. Kylo, you do not yet realize your importance. You've only begun to discover your power! Join me and I will complete your training! With our combined wisdom, we can end this destructive conflict and bring peace to the galaxy.
Kylo Ren: I'll never join you!
Luke Skywalker: If only your mind could be at peace... Do you know what happened to my father.
Kylo Ren: I know enough! Vader killed him!
Luke Skywalker: No, Vader WAS my father.
Kylo Ren: No. No! That's not true! That's impossible!
Luke Skywalker: He sought his feelings, found love in his heart and turned away from the dark side...
Kylo Ren: NOOOOOOO!
Edited by Aluminium FalconDo you know how strong winds have to be to get coats and stuff to billow like that? It's always cool to see the guy with his wind billowing in the wind, but I own coats like that. If the wind is strong enough to do that, it's all you can do to not get knocked over.

Luke: Kylo I am your father...
Kylo: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I am disappointed with the swept back look. Feels a little silly like those wtf helmets the guys had on in the opening of ANH. However, at the same time I don't want him to have too much of a Vader vibe or he won't get a chance to be his own character. I was hoping it was just a mask like from the KOTOR games or something.
So... and maybe this is a harsh interpretation...
But the mysterious, shadowy, darksider villains aren't Sith but rather lore-obsessed, prop-collecting, cosplaying, replica-making fanboys with power fantasies?
Maybe this crossguard is made of phrik or cortosis.....mhmm.
A fan theory I've seen.
Rey and Kylo Ren are the children of Han and Leia. Han has been an absentee father and Kylo (this is not his real name but one he took once he joined these Knights) has fallen to the dark side. Han returns to try and bring his son back to the light but will die in his trying. Finn will join up with Chewie on the Millennium Falcon becoming its pilot.
- Some of this is based off the fact that way back Harrison really had no interest in continuing to be Han. He may have signed on for this movie but with a condition that Han Solo die in it.
- There is new Millennium Falcon toy coming out which only includes Finn and Chewie figures.
- Toys are well known to spoil upcoming movie details.

If I could move stuff with my mind, I would always have a billowing cloak ... ![]()

If I could move stuff with my mind girls in skirts would always be standing over air blowing vents.

Maybe that is the difference between the Light and the Dark Side? ... ![]()

The “swept-back helmets” are more accurately called “Sallets” (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sallet), and were common in the latter part of the 1600s.
However, the concept art that features them appears to be from a different source (called “Indie Revolver”), likely some sort of fan who has no real concept of what these guys might look like.
