So I am really drawn to the idea of flying Scum in my next local tournament. I've been thinking through some ideas and was wondering if anybody has tried something similar or has any suggestions.

Firespray - Mando Mercenary w/ bodyguard and recon specialist (40)

StarViper - Guri w/ veteren instincts and autothrusters (33)

Z-95 - N'Dru Suhlak w/ lone wolf, cluster missiles, and hot shot blaster (26)

for a total of 99 points. Has anyone played with bodyguard? It seems like it will take some skill to be effective, but could be pretty useful and fun to use. Alternatively, I was thinking of switching the Mando for Kath Scarlet w/ Predator. I haven't had a chance to play this yet, but I am really looking forward to trying it out!

Bodyguard is pretty awful. Also, in your list only N'dru can be bodyguarded. The pilot you are buffing needs to have a higher PS. N'dru does not want to be close to any other friendly ships. I'd just run Predator on the Mando and call it a day.

Not sure about hot shot blaster on N'dru either. I think I'd just rather give him a HU to give him a little more durability.

I actually like hotshot on ndru, the list you're running could have problems with arc dodgers and that's one way to deal with them. I'd consider finding a way to sneak a bomb or mine in there too

Yeah, Hot Shot isn't bad, but I wouldn't run that and Cluster Missiles. You are putting 7 points worth of ordnance on a 17 point ship. I think go with one or the other.

Also Guri is wasted in this list. She is a potent ace and closer, but with only VI and autothrusters, she's not equipped to get the job done. N'dru is a one-trick pony that can be fun, but doesn't win you games. I would drop some of the excess off him and get a better EPT for Guri at the very least (like predator or push the limit). Advanced sensors or Sensor Jammer would also be nice...

Thanks for the tips, guys! I originally thought of the list as more of a fun option, but then started wondering how it would perform in more serious games. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to try out any variation of it yet, but you have all given me solid things to consider. I've got about a week and a half to modify and practice with this team.
