Building a dedicated X-Wing games room.

By Shado, in X-Wing

my list for an x wing gaming room would be

  • Table big enough for epic
  • Bar stools for multiple players
  • Second Table for stuff .... cards, ships, refreshmant etc
  • Large flat screen and surround sound system to play the films on while you play
  • Small fridge ... can double as second table
  • Posters and decorations for atmosphere
well thats how we do it any way :)

I have a full size fridge for beverages, btw!

I use two old flat hollow sliding closet doors. I spray glued some felt for a permanent non-slip surface. Play area is 6x8'. Have played 1000 point games with and without epics. I store them in the basement and lay them across my dining room table at game time.

My game table started life as a 5'x9' sheet of 1" plywood and was used as a Ping Pong table! Ping Pong tables are great wargame tables, however a tad low for full use! My game plan is to buy kitchen counters and use the game table as a to. This will increase the height over the current legs which are regulation ping pong table.

I also do historical wargaming, ancient and WWII and make use of every inch of space for those. XWing exclusive player could probably stick with 4x8.

Here you two rascals go making my huge-ass-glorious 5x7 table looking all small and suches!

Grr!

Here I wuz all happy thinking: "Yeah my 5x7 gives me the full 3x6 play area with a whole great big extra foot on both sides to deploy the Huge ships all nice and with room to maneuver. I even have a foot at the end for tokens and other game stuffs... hurrah!!!"

:D

But no, hel-nah... you guys got to be all up on here with extra-extra large tables!!!

:o

GRrrr-Owl!!!

I'm away to convert the bottom half of my music studio into a war room. :)

I'm not planning on going wider than 4' though - just makes playing games difficult. Particularly if you are a t-Rex. Should be around 9' long though. A couch, airbrush booth and some glass display cabinets should finish it off. It already has a somewhat ludicrous sound system.

May add a tv too. :)

And to add insult to injury, I use to live in the same city as Viceroy Bolda and we've played XWing together, but never on our own tables, always at the FLGS! Now Im 80 miles away with my extra, extra large table! LOL!

I've been pushing epic at the LGS, as you probably know. I want to play "I Have You Now" again in the worst way.
