barbarian race?

By RusakRakesh, in Game Masters

I seem to remember something in the old school marvel comics. Akin to Conan the barbarian or He Man.

Help a bro out, cheers.

These guys ? The Tof?

I've wanted to bring them into one of my games for so long, but it's just never seemed to line up quite well enough... :(

Ugh. I remember the ships. An old, old, stack of comics I found in a bargain bin from before my time. I thought it was bad when I was nine... 20 years has not dulled this feeling.

The Wookiee Rage ability of the Wookiees would convey barbarian rage, but otherwise, a high Brawn character with some kind of Obligation or something that makes him get really mad at the drop of a hat. I think the Great Movie Compendium had a species like that, but I can't recall

Naw, I bet it's these guys: the Calian from issues 53 and 54 (The Last Gift of Alderaan and Starfire Rising). While Star Wars is a very diverse galaxy and certainly owes it's existence to the old pulp novels of Edgar Rice Burroughs, this was simply taking John Carter, Warlord of Mars and filing the serial numbers off.

So, not a big Space Battleship Yamato fan then?

Ah...yeah, could be them. I guess the Tof are more "Vikings in Spaaaace" than "Barbarians in Spaaaace."

You could just reskin the Wookiee species!

What is the deal with all these near-human aliens? Can`t they just be humans of different cultures? I`m all for planet of hats, but come on!...

Edit: Ok, Tof are green(...) and Calian are human, that`s cool..

Thanks Desslok!

Our gaming group love the Tof; even their goofy starships. We nickname their pirate ship "the pizza-box ships".
