I'm thinking of running this at my local tourney this weekend. Played a couple of games with it so far and won both but noticed Vader went down pretty fast and could very easily have cost me the game so I'm not feeling too confident. Need some opinions. Thanks!

That's because you don't have engine upgrade on Vader

Although those 3 guys are bit too expensive to run them fully optimized. For that reason, I would suggest dropping one to a lesser (cheaper) version so that you can fully optimize all 3 of your ships.
