Ep. VII LEGO sets

By DiabloAzul, in Star Wars: Armada

That's the worst looking starship I've seen yet. It's got wings. That open up. Taller. Because reasons. I dub it the sUck-wing.

Right? lol, seriously, what is the point of those wings...I mean I can understand them closing down so it can fit in places with lower ceilings (or in more cramped areas), but couldnt they just make that the standard height? Do the wings really need to go that tall?

There could be many in-lore technical reasons for it... Especially in regards to Hyperspace and such.

I would love to hear the in-lore technical reasons. Not being sarcastic, really I would love to, as I am at a loss for the wings...maybe we will get a technical book on some of the new ships when the movie comes out that will give us more info

To be fair, I'm a big hater of all the ship designs of the prequels, and apparently the new trilogy. They all just look hokey and out of place. The venator looking like Jar Jar was so far too much for me. And Abrams is working hard to make the new tech look distinct. I still can't stand the new rolly-droid. It just feels too zany.

Well this thread has been fun so far.

Pretty sure the shuttles wing drop down like the old imperial shuttle.

Man I don't think it does. If it did, then yeah sure awesome Imperial Shuttle 2.0. If those suckers just stand straight up, AND extend? 2goofy4me. And this is all in good fun - just because I don't like some designs doesn't mean it's not totally cool for others to! I will say the new x-wing grew on me, while the new Tie fighter has not. Not that anyone was asking or anything.

I dont think it does. In the bottom right corner of the box it has a little picture showing that the wings extend up, generally if they also swing down (IE imperial shuttle 2.0) they would also show that the set can do that as well. Since it does not, pretty sure they just stand straight up.

But who knows, maybe Lego missed the memo that the wings are supposed to flip down too lol

It's called 'The Rule of Cool'.

I think this is the same shuttle. That means the wings are at least at an angle. http://i.imgur.com/Cx7C5jT.png

I really really really hope they open up at that angle or that's the strangest shuttle I've ever seen. I cannot really diss the other three. I would love to see more alternative paint schemes from FFG for X-Wing. I'm not sure if any of these would be used in Armada other than the two basic fighters for the new factions in episode 7.

We have seen bits of that shuttle before:

Thanks Mel! I had seen those pics before but somehow never noticed the shuttle... my eyes always had something more exciting to feast on :D

I remembered the wings (in the Star Destroyer clip) as inverted down, but even so at an angle up looks cool and in the poster it looks mean!

I think the problem with judging movie designs based on lego sets is that lego sets don't always look as good.

I'm pretty sure this had already been spoiled, but now we know the name of the guy with the hilted lightsaber is "Kylo Ren".

yeah that was spoiled quite a while ago

Well if that is the same shuttle as in the trailer, then at least the wings do fold out somewhat, so not completely weird looking

And that's just a crude micro version.

Ya I actually like the new SD, a little more sleek looking imo.

Also did anyone else see the lightsabers?

those are some weird, impractical lightsaber

Okay as long as the shuttle wings angle out like in that movie still, I'm mostly retracting my complaint. And yeah I can't wait to see more of that deep dish star destroyer.

Deep Dish Star Destroyer

I kind of like this name for it lol
