Boardwars.eu Campaign on Youtube

By jacenat, in Imperial Assault Campaign

So we finally finished preparing and started playing our online campaign. The first mission is up on youtube now:

But of course we are also livestreaming it on twitch, just follow us there: http://www.twitch.tv/boardwarseu

Don't forget to drop us a comment if you think we can do some parts of it better!

And of course the obvious plugs

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Boardwars.eu

Podcast: http://boardwars.eu/category/podcast/

I'll check it out.

Cool. :)

Are you all from Germany?

Maybe an odd question but do you guys have any German language content? I speak German but don't have much exposure these days. Star Wars games + German would be awesome lol.

2 from Austria, 2 from Germany for now. We might invite guest players from across Europe or even the US down the line.

We don't have any German content for now because a German audience would be much smaller. Sorry. We might do some casual stuff in German in the future, but it would not be much.

Good job! I enjoyed it and watched the whole thing.

My suggestions:

1. Less setup time.

2. More focus on the map and less on side cards, etc.

I will watch the next one because:

1. Good humor and very good personality amongst the players, and the accent is great (embrace it). ("shoot dee stormtrooper in dee head!" and "I think we should discuss vether it's called 'teer' or 'tire'.")

2. You moved quickly, explained what you were doing well, and there wasn't any dead air.

Oh, last thing: tell the Empire to stop giving advice to the Rebels! Hail to the Empire!

Thanks for the suggestions.

I will try to cut down setup time. Seeing as it was the first game for all of us on roll20, it was a bit bumpy. Should go much more smoothly next time.

And I want to highlight the cards important for the current situation. I will try to focus on the map more next time though, just to see how it goes.

Advice from the Empire: Yeah, I hate to see the Rebels lose, must be the DM in me :) Will stop it though, since they already won the first mission :)

I watched the second one this weekend, while walking on the threadmill, and enjoyed it.

Keep it up!

New mission video is up on youtube.

I think I focused more on the map this time. Give it a shot and tell me what you think.

I'll check it out tomorrow morning for sure.

Super !

What is the software you use to play ????

We play on roll20.net which is a virtual tabletop. It's relatively bare bones, but has all the relevant functionality to make IA work. Provided you scan in all your stuff and invest a bit of time to prepare the missions. But it's actually a bit faster to play the missions then because it's less fiddly with tokens, dice and all that.

Very interesting really, but you make many mistakes rules !

It's a shame because it changes the end of the game.

Can you point some of them out?

Oki, i'am french. i understand english, but at some time....

So i see 2 errors at least.

At 6:01, Mak use Ambush to attack nexu. He dont because nexu have line os sight to him :

At 17:25, jyn use this ability to attack e-web before this activation.

She is to 5 space to him. On this dice, she has 4 to precision. You cancel this surge !

This attack miss so !

there may be to the other , I have not noticed ^^

1) Mak has the ability "Covert". Enemy figures do not have line of sight to him if he is 3 or more Spaces away from them. In the video at ~6:00, he is 4 spaces away, so the Nexu does not have line of sight to him. Therefore, Mak can use Ambush.

2) Yes, this was one of the 2 rules mistakes. I added a youtube notification clarifying that.

HxijMta.jpg

It did not affect the outcome of the mission though as I won comfortably.

3) You missed the 2nd mistake which was me saying that Peacemaker can be attached to all Heroes. I also added a youtube annotation for this. And since the reward card was not won in the end, it also had no effect what so ever.

But of course, if you find mistakes in Aftermath or A new Threat (Missions 1 and 3) please do let me know and I will add notifications accordingly.

Oki i have forget the mak ability ^^

Don't worry. We try to make this an educational series with as few rules mistakes as possible. Thus we are always open for corrections and I will add youtube annotations at the appropriate times. And of course you are invited to join the chat and point out rules mistakes live as they happen :)

Thanks for taking the time to write the page! :)

We are reasonably experienced (my 3rd campaign, and most of the others have at least 1 campaign finished) and also do cover some common rules mistakes in our podcast. So we aren't that prone anymore for absolte beginner mistakes, but certainly they can happen :)

Great video! I watched it all the way until a few minutes after the Nexu dodged that attack by Garkaan and then game was pretty much over.

I have played this mission three times, and the Rebels won two out of the three times, with three different groups of people. All three times they split up and ran for the objectives, and in all three times one of them was already in the narrow passage that goes south when Weiss showed up. So Weiss was in hot pursuit.

Apparently I brain farted all three times when it came to the number of surges needed for the terminals. I thought only 1 was needed. Maybe that's why they won?

Anyways, I have a rules question. On the northern terminal Jyn carried one attribute success surge over from one round to another, and added the second surge to it in the following round. You can do that?

Yes. For attribute tests that require more than 1 success, each success places a strain token besides the object. This strain token acts like a bank you can cash in for 1 success on the next try. Mechanically this ends up just "saving" your success progress. Otherwise attribute checks with 3 successes, like in the Twin Shadows expansion, would be really hard to do :)

Beware with that, there is a Mission where you need 2 success for a test and you can get -1 Surge on attribute test rolls. There it is possible to loose the previous success because you actually spend the Strain on the object to get +1 Surge for your next attribute test. So if you have a strain token on the object and roll 0 Surges you have 0 + 1 - 1 = 0 and the surge on the object will not be added again.

You are correct. I would have missed that. Which mission gives you -1 Surge on the results by the way? I can't remember for the life of me.

Its a main mission called Incoming. The one with the bombing.

Oh ... never played that so far. Thanks for the heads up!
