I want a home-brewed TIE variant.

FFG has great amazing artists, and many of the existing TIE variants were just not that great in their initial form. (I actually don't like the original gunboat's look, but FractalSponge can make anything look cool.)

I think a new TIE by FFG would be nice at worst, and at best "sa-weet".

Fractalsponge is the divine aspect of hard-surface modeling and you know it; using his models to justify a ship design is like turning in a physics exam that you got Stephen Hawking to do for you.

A Gunboat's just a shuttle some lazy bastard lazily stuck extra wings on before blinding/bribing/coercing his art director to let it slide.

So, in other words not really all that different conceptually than every single TIE variant that's come out since Return of the Jedi? Should fit in perfectly, then!

So what? Doesn't mean their art direction wasn't crap. Laziness is laziness. Bad design is bad design. Those TIE variants you cited? Most of them are awful and, by the way, kinda unnecessary. An X-wing fuselage with 2 more sets of foils jammed on it and labelled an Asterisk Gunship would be a lazy, bad design too.

The Y-8 Mining vessel. This was my Bounty Hunter's home and trophy showroom in SWG. In true SW fashion, I made a bunch of special modifications and flying it felt sort of like flying a YV-666 feels in X-Wing, so I'd love to see this one added.

And, while I'm getting all misty eyed with nostalgia, I'd add the Sorosuub luxury yacht for the same reasons. Both scum, obviously.

The first image you posted was from a PC game developed almost 20 years ago; FractalSponge is using modern technology for his models.

FractalSponge is an amazing graphic artist, no doubt. But so are the people at Disney/Lucasfilm, and the modellers at FFG (just look at what they managed to do with the K-Wing, for example). Are you seriously trying to tell me that, given the brief, they wouldn't be able to come up with a better concept than was originally created for a 1.5ghz 1990's PC game?

Heck, that gunboat is nice enough that it would seriously tempt me away from Rebels if it were ever released. And I am UNHEALTHILY OBSESSED with Y-Wings, so that says a lot

Lambda Class Shuttle has a giant fin sticking straight up and you're saying a ship with big fins (Big retractable fins at that) is too tall for a Large ship? Get out of here. I very much doubt we won't see this ship in the future.

I' love to see it (the design has rather grown on me), it's just at least 40m tall, with far more surface area in those panels than the Lambda, plus from what we can see of how they fold, it'd be really hard to get into the packaging properly.
