Jump Jets and Walls

By macar, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

So in the current map (royal guard area) my stormie was in a corner where a wall was infront of him.

He could move diagonal. to go around but if I use jump jets can I just place him anywhere within 5 squares or do I have to follow normal movement rules? (aside from moving through enemies)

Anytime it says place within X spaces you have to count however many spaces from where your figure is ignoring additional movement costs. You can't jump through walls but you can move through any number of figures or difficult/blocking terrain for no cost.

This can be found on Page 9 of the RRG under Counting Spaces by the way.

From the Rulebook:

Many effects require players to measure the distance between two

spaces. To determine this number, the player counts the number

of movement points it would take for a figure to move from one

space to the other.

Impassable terrain, figures, and difficult terrain can be moved into

and through without costing additional movement point for this

measurement. This measurement cannot go through walls, doors,

or blocking terrain.

• If a figure’s ability specifies to choose something within a set

number of spaces, players count spaces from the figure using

the ability . Likewise, if an ability specifies to choose an adjacent

figure, the figure must be adjacent to the figure using the ability.

The bottom line of what the rules actually mean is there has to be a space to count. Just because there's a space shaped hole between the walls doesn't mean there's actually a space there.

I didn't mean the holes between the pieces, to clarify it was the black line that stuck out (near where one of the terminals sit) but the answer would appear to be the same thanks guys!
