Dealing Critical Injuries

By Icosiel, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I think I've been doing this wrong for the past couple of years.

My group has played it where in order to deal a critical injury to an opponent, you just have to hit them, regardless of if you actually did any damage or not. For example, if my Soak 10 Marauder gets hit with 8 damage from a blaster pistol but the opponent still rolled a triumph, the Marauder could still take a crit even though he didn't take any damage.

Is this wrong? I feel like this is wrong. Does an attack have to do damage in order to also do a critical injury?

Yes, a hit must do damage in order to cause a critical injury.

Do you have a reference for that? Whenever I've had a read of the rules I have read it as you get the hit, tou get the advantages, you score a crit regardless of base damage.

page 205 in Edge core.

Cheers guys. These Star Wars series are generally easier to find rules in that (example off the top of my head you understand) Dark Heresy 1st Edition, but you can still loose things ;)
